Hmm: someone mentioned a hypothetical trade of Kovalchuk to Chicago

Does this look good?

I think Kovie comes on with Chicago as rental just for this year, nothing beyond it.

I can see it, but only because Chicago is just going for it, come hell or high water, both of which are going to be inflicted on them this summer. Without trading for Kovalchuk, as they are right now, they’re going to lose a couple or three roster players to get under the cap. Trading two big names for one who will walk just admits that and gives away those two players for nothing. But they will still need to lose another guy. their cap situation is a hideous mess.

Agree totally. The Campbell deal was just a bad one. Funny thing with Chicago and Kovie, the Hawks biggest “problem” is not scoring. So why use chips to get more of what you don’t need when you can use those chips to get something you actually do need?

Because they’re like a moth to a flame.

As a Kingfan I have been wondering for a while now weather Chicago really had a shot at Kovi,or weather we truely need him to make the playoffs.EA mentioned capgeek.com to me around Christmas and I haven’t been able to make it work for Chicago past this season. It apears it’s all or nothing now.Their in a top spot in the west already and it seems foolish that they would trade to try to improve on that.I can’t figure out how to solve their problems for the future either.
