Who ARE these guys?! What do they WANT?! [Game 8 preview]
Who are they? Minnesota Wild.
What do they want? To leap-frog over Calgary and Colorado, into the playoffs.
What's their ****ing problem? Injured: Cam Barker, Chuck Kobasew.
Who the **** do they think they are? (IN) Matt Cullen, Brad Staubitz, Eric Nystrom, John Madden (OUT) Andrew Ebbett, Derek Boogaard, John Scott, Wade Dubielewicz, Shane Hnidy, Owen Nolan.
What, are we supposed to be scared? The Wild currently have the number one power play in the league.
Bob Miller's Nightmare? Odds that Bob calls the Wild the "North Stars": 1-in-3.
I thought we were friends! Ex-Kings: Drew Bagnall (AHL).
Yeah, well, wait till they get a load of: I don't know. Nobody really. Jack Johnson went to high-school in Minnesota, so maybe he'll have some friends in the crowd. Oh, and I see the first line will now be Brad Richardson with Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown.

Bit of a knee-jerk reaction with the first line, or rewarding a hard-worker?
"Semin had two goals this year, Perreault comes in and he gets three."
Throw in "riding the hot hand"
And I think it’s a little of all of those things. Richie really was on top of his game the other night. Murray probably wants to see if that combo has any staying power.
"Prepare your bladder for imminent release!" — Invader Zim
he's trying to force Kopitar and Brown to have chemistry because otherwise
he has to break up Smyth/Stoll/Williams or Poni/Handzus/Simmonds, neither of which he wants to do.
Wait till this year.
The cool thing is both those guys needed improvement in similar areas--
Movement away from the puck into small open spaces between defenders below the hash marks, and even more importantly they are both showinf better ability with the “quick release” shot. Kopi never had the quick hands, but his gaol two games ago was terrifice, while Brown’s lifted whip shot last game was a good sign, also. Adding these skills to already strong arsenals makes them much tougher to defend. I think the Brown/Kopi experiment will last all the way through a turn for Parse on LW with them, also.

Why does he need to break it up...
betweent he two of them they have 6 goals in 7 games…. and 12 points. and the SSW line is on fire as well. Why change them, it seems to be working. Sure maybe Smyth, Kopi, and Williams can light it up again.. but then we lose the 2nd line completely.

That’s good for me. I don’t get FSW so my few opportunities to watch the Kings as a half-bandwagon fan are on Versus or something.
That's like a pumpkin pie right in the face!
DOUGHTY ON IR
Muzzin re-called. During the game broadcast the talking heads said Doughty was progressing well, but I guess that was old news.
As I understand it, the one-week minimum retro-counts to date of injury, which was 10/20. So, I think that means he could play Wednesday the 27th against the Hawks, but since they made the decision today, and recalled Muzzin, the obvious meaning is that they do not expect Doughty for Wednesday. And if he is for sure out that game, he is probably out for Thursday the 28th against the Stars, too.
Meanwhile, after our star is out over a week from a late hit targeting the head, we had to kill a major with ejection for a strong hit to the shoulder by Dustin Brown.
Thanks a fuck of a lot, league, but you know what? If you want this team to develop the “us-against-the-world” mentality, look out, it’s what we need.
