Who ARE these guys? What do they WANT? (Game #1 Preview)
Who are they? Vancouver Canucks.
What do they want? An encore to last year's playoff win.
What's their ****ing problem? Alexander Burrows is injured. Willie Mitchell is a King now and presumably won't consult on the Canucks penalty kill.
Who the **** do they think they are? (IN) Dan Hamhuis, Keith Ballard, Raffi Torres, Manny Malhotra, Victor Oreskovich, Joel Perrault, Jeff Tambellini, Bill Sweatt. (OUT) Kyle Wellwood, Willie Mitchell, Steve Bernier, Michael Grabner, Ryan Johnson, Andrew Raycroft, Brad Lukowich, Pavol Demitra,
What, are we supposed to be scared? A little. The Kings relationship with the Canucks makes me think of the little brother who gleefully announces to his big brother that in two years he'll be older than him and THEN HE'LL BE SORRY!
Yeah, well, wait till they get a load of: Super cool purple and gold jerseys that we should go back to full time. Also: Kyle Clifford.

I never like the thought of playing the Nucks, so I hope they’re ready to go at full speed tonight. But I can’t wait to see the oldschool uniforms + the new kiddos in person! Go Kings Go!

NHL HOCKEY ACTION, YO!!!
What sucks is the fact that this game starts at 7;30 P.M. It’s a good thing that NHL Center Ice is FREE for 2 weeks. I’m only worried about my remote exploding while I’m jumping from not ONLY NHL games, but NCAA football as well. Soo much sports, so little time:)
Yeah I got 10 which is 7 your time.
In an Ideal world, I would have all ten fingers on my left hand so my right hand could just be a fist for punching.
Sorry, I was thinking abuut pre-game show...
that starts at 6:30 as I just checked my program guide. Still, It’s a loooong wait.
The diary is actually rather respectful...
Pretty cool. The blog gives us alot of credit. Rather refreshing when u compare it to what was thrown out from those fans in Springsteen town.
Very excited for what this year brings. Another step in the overall journey. I think we have a good shot to fulfill some of the expectations thrown our way media-wise but even if we don’t, it will be nice to see what development happens with our core and of course what the rookies bring to the table.
With the fate of some of the cap stressed teams and some available cap space to spend, there’s alot of hope…
To a great season…!

"I couldn't do that!"
“Could you do that? Why can they do that?”
Not often you get a Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid quote! Nice call!
Back to the job at hand: Welcome to Vancouver, but don’t expect to enjoy your stay. 8)
Last year the Kings finally went from perpetual dark horse to real deal, and it looks like it was worth the wait. That’s a dangerous bunch you’ve got there, and backstopped as well as any team in the league. Kind of pissed you got Big Willie, but your team was willing to take a greater risk than mine, so more power to you. I hope you get full value from him, much as it hurts to say.
Expect a few of us over during the game (especially in the second); and you’re perfectly welcome to come by Nucks Misconduct and say hi yourselves. Well, “hi” or whatever else comes to mind…
Four pm Saturday, only three days into the new season and already the Kings are three points down to San Jose, languishing in the cellar of the Pacific Division. It’s looking like another season of misery, failure and frustration for Kings fans and management. [How’d you like my Helene Elliott imitation?]
My quick impressions from the game:
1) Schenn isn’t going anywhere
2) Williams looked really good
3) Is the ice bad in Vancouver or something? There were guys falling all over the place from both teams often without being touched
4) Kopitar needs to shoot the puck more on the PP to mix things up some
5) Johnson looks more confident
6) Muzzin didn’t make much of an impression on me in a good or bad way
7) Poni had a lot of penalties for his first game but overall was alright (couple of the penalties were kinda soft, just as a few against Canucks were)
8) Head shot rules obviously having an effect early on with a few calls although I thought Bieksa’s was pretty dirty
9) Did I mention Brayden Schenn is awesome, he turned that guy inside out to draw a penalty, just missed on the PP rebound and consistently gave us an offensive spark when on the ice. Plus he filled in for Kopi for a while and looked good.
