Utterly jaw-dropping news out of New York today.
Alexander Frolov was asked by reporter Vasily Osipov of Sport-Express (a Russian news source) some questions about his season in New York, and some comments about his playing time have particularly irked Rangers' fans:
"It’s absolutely unacceptable to me that I spend 7-8 minutes a game on the ice, especially on an energy line. It’s just not my game, which I told the coach candidly. But there are no personal problems between me and him. I’m not a quarrelsome person. Even in our recent conversation there was no swearing or raised voices. Nobody blamed anyone, we simply discussed the situation."
Who could have predicted this??
Oh yeah, me.
Gloating aside, it is especially sad that Frolov cannot fit in on a very depleted Rangers roster, especially at Left Wing. The only other skill player at that position is Ruslan Fedotenko, who has scored over 20 goals in his career only once. The others: Sean Avery, Brandon Prust, and Derek Boogard. His placement in the top 6 should be nothing short of automatic.
Could any reasonable person honestly think that Tortorella WANTS to put Frolov on the 4th line?
No.
Does John Tortorella really wants to give Sean Avery top 6 minutes?
No.
Frolov is useless when he doesn't score, which he is not doing this season:
29 games: 4G 7A
You can't show a good game like this.
Sorry Ranger fans, he's your problem now.
