Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

What do we think here? For me, first off, let's up the production value. Get JR into a studio of some sort with a real mic, real camera, and actual lights. The sheer video/audio quality of this is subpar compared to anything else on Kings Vision.

Content-wise, I actually don't mind him. He can speak coherently and is interesting. And I do like that he answers questions from people on Hockeywood, L.A.

Yay or nay?

I can live without JR in the Kings "community"

he came, he wasted our time, he left, lets just leave it at that. Do we really need reminders? What about Dan Cloutier? Give him a radio show…

Wait till this year.

I’ll be sure to avoid the riots if that ever happens

JR is the Curt Schilling of Hockey

He was dominant years ago but now grabs media attention only by being loud and opinionated. He’s just a frustrating reminder of the ’05 season. And yes, the lighting and sound looks like some sort of sleazy, low budget porn set.

Sorry Seattle, 2010 still isn't your year.

Is that worse than someone who can only say, “Ummmm, you know, it’s about playing 60 minutes of hockey.”

i don't have a problem with him as a "personality"

I just don’t need to identify him with the Kings. He is not exactly the proudest member of the Kings Alumni Association. or shouldn’t be. I mentioned Cloutier in jest, of course, but really how is he any different? Does JR really think that anyone in Los Angeles thinks his presence here was a net positive? Don’t get me wrong; he was a great player. Just not for us. And it’s not like he gave it his all here. He was basically an overweight overpaid clown.

Wait till this year.

To me, they're the same thing

Both poor excuses for commentating. Of course, I’d cut JR alot more slack if he wasn’t awful as a King.

Sorry Seattle, 2010 still isn't your year.

i agree

and like i said, I don’t have a problem with him as a talking head. But you can add him to the list of ex-Kings I don’t need to see at Kings-related events. Grant Fuhr, Cliff Ronning, Mark Parrish, Petr Klima, etc.

Wait till this year.

Exactly

Ah, memories…

Has he been going to Kings events?

by Connie Kim on Feb 11, 2010 8:07 AM PST up reply actions

Oh, I don’t count Kings Vision as Kings events. I was thinking events like what Darryl Evans and Jim Fox attend as past alum.

I spoke too soon

Episode 3: http://kings.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?catid=-6&id=59998

Haven’t watched it yet, but he seems to have fixed the lighting issues.

I haven't really checked it out

Lack of interest, really. I don’t have anything against him as a hockey personality, either. And I do give him some props for openly admitting that he shafted the Kings by not trying very hard when he was with the team.

But I don’t care whether he tries to make it up to us or not. I’m content to just forget about the whole thing and move on.

Let bygones be bygones?

For me, the guy was a bum and probably should have handed back a large chunk of the money he “earned” as a member of the team. However, he has admitted to being a bum which must be worth something…maybe? Either way, he’s interesting enough and taken as a whole I feel he has contributed far more to the world of hockey, and hockey in the USA, to be dragged down by his time in LA.

Besides, he was so awesome in NHL ‘93 that I can’t seem to hold that grudge!

Well said

I approve! He was terrible in LA and no one is disputing that, and I’m not surprised he’s doing what he’s doing. In the end, I don’t mind.
