- The Kings will open the playoffs on the road against (in descending order of likelihood) the Vancouver Canucks, Phoenix Coyotes, San Jose Sharks or Chicago Blackhawks.
- The Nashville Predators will open the playoffs on the road against (in descending order of likelihood) Phoenix, Vancouver, San Jose or Chicago.
- The Kings have a 26% chance of playing San Jose or Chicago. The Preds have a 16% chance.
- The Canucks have a lock on the 3rd seed, and will open at home against (in descending order of likelihood) Nashville, Los Angeles or the Detroit Red Wings.

The Colorado Avalanche (or the Calgary Flames, who still have a 5% shot) will open on the road against either Chicago or San Jose.
- Detroit will play (in descending order of likelihood) Chicago, San Jose, Vancouver or Phoenix.
- One of San Jose or Chicago will play (all but certainly) Colorado, and whichever doesn't play Colorado is very likely to play Detroit (48%), though L.A (26%), or Nashville (16%) are also possible.
- Phoenix is almost certain to finish 4th, and will play (in descending order of likelihood) Nashville, Los Angeles or Detroit.
