A little early to say that, isn't it?

I mean, shouldn’t Lewis have to — oh, I dunno — play a full season in the NHL before we say he’s better than Belanger?

Belanger was a very useful player in his prime, and perhaps not well appreciated. He was like that really good utility infielder whose value you don’t really appreciate until he goes free agent on you and signs for more money elsewhere. I wouldn’t have minded a bit if the Kings had made a deadline deal for him. I think he would have been a better pickup than Halpern, certainly in retrospect.

Nicolas Deslauriers

Quisp,

Can you give a bit more of a breakdown on Deslauriers and what you know about him, how likely it is he actually makes and impact on the team, and where he ranks on your personal Kings prospect favorites. I kinda forgot about him with all the hype for Hickey/Voynov/Teubert on defense and Bernier in goal and Lokti/Moller/Schenn for the forwards. Thanks.

He's fast.

He’s got another year of juniors, and then I expect he’ll spend a season or two in the AHL. Probably the best plan would be (for us, the impatient fan base) to forget about him for a couple of years and then pile on the expectations. His numbers have improved markedly each season, so maybe a break-out season is in order now.

Wait till this year.

I forgot to answer the part about where he "ranks" on my own personal (not very relevant) list

He’s in a special category of guys I haven’t seen or heard much of but even time I see a clip or read an article, I get prematurely excited in a long-term investment sort of way. Vey, Wudrick, Deslauriers, King, Kaunisto, Muzzin. That’s that little group.

Wait till this year.

Brilliant

“Hoping for Sean Avery, not Sean Avery.” Indeed.

Hey! What’s wrong with David Steckel!
He’s good at faceoffs and uh…. Faceoffs!

Monarchs

Quisp,

I’m assuming that you have been watching the Monarchs games and I was wondering what your impressions of the players has been. I know Hickey finally played tonight and got an assist. Lokti, Muzzin, Clifford and of course Bernier also seem to be playing well but I haven’t been able to see any games so I was hoping to get your expert opinion.

I watched game two, in which bernier was awesome to the point of causing the hershey announcers to freak out a little bit

haven’t watched tonight’s game yet.

clifford was in the middle of things in game two, looked good. loktionov had a number of excellent back-checks in which he stripped the puck off people, very stealthy. Moller I didn’t see much of, but that doesn ‘t mean he wasn’t there. also, it’s hard to tell watching on the 4" box on the computer screen.

i’m looking forward to seeing hickey tonight.

Wait till this year.
