Why is everyone searching for Mike Cammalleri's girlfriend?

PrintDid I miss something? Is this just because Mike Cammalleri is suddenly scoring meaningful goals? Was there a girlfriend sighting? Or do people just think he's cute? (and, no, it wasn't a mistake to trade him.)

Denial is blindly assuming that he would have re-signed with the Kings. I mean Cammalleri, not Mark Twain.

This Cammy revisionism thing keeps bugging me
Maybe because it involves going back and retrofitting history so that you willfully ignore stuff that was pretty well known at the time. And that’s kind of intellectually dishonest. It’s a way of making yourself seem smarter than everyone else when you really aren’t; you’re just playing with the historical record by willfully ignoring important parts of it.
Anyway, I was just over at lakingsnews, and found this Dean Lombardi quote, about trading Cammaleri:
"This kid is obviously a good player, but it became fairly clear to me that he was probably going to be a one-year asset, and it’s very clear that our ownership wants a young nucleus. … I think that arbitration process, people said the Kings won but you never win. Quite frankly it’s a lose-lose situation. That was certainly a factor going forward. Our chances of losing him and not maximizing our value were pretty good." [my emphasis added]
As I said, and as Connie has also said, at the time it seemed pretty clear that Cammalleri was heading for a break with the Kings because the arbitration process strongly suggested that retaining him as going to be too difficult. Therefore, trading him was not a mistake, no matter how many goals he scores in playoffs this year. Given the choices that he faced at the time, Lombardi played it safe rather than squeeze one more season out of Cammy before losing him to free agency (at a time when the Kings were not in strong position to contend for the playoffs anyway).
I repeat: Trading Cammalleri was not a mistake because it made perfect sense at the time.

It’s not because he is scoring!
He was known in Montreal as being single. He was never seen twice with the same girl and he was often seen eating alone in restaurant. But recently (since mid-April), he has been seen a couple of times in restaurant with the same brunette girl. He also refered to “my girlfriend” while talking about something in a newspaper interview. Some people say it is Jen, the girl he was dating in the past. But there is 2 stories going on, some people say they are just good friends and others say they are back together… until they break-up again! I think it is why many people are looking for information about Cammalleri girlfriend right now, they want to know who is the brunette girl and if it is a serious relationship.
