Patrick Sharp
So we all know about Chicago's cap situation and heard guys like Versteeg, Campbell, Huet & Sharp being on the block. Two of whom I can definitely see being traded (Versteeg & Sharp) and the other two are simply un-moveable. With a cap hit of 5.625 for the 33 year old Cristobal Huet and a 7.140 for Brian Campbell, no GMs would touch those contracts with a 10-foot poll.
Let's focus on Patrick Sharp. 25 goals, 41 assists in 82 games this season. 11 goals and 11 assists in the playoffs, solid all-around numbers. He's a utility man, plays W or C, just recently won a Stanley Cup ring and can help us with our 5 on 5 scoring, not to mention he used to play for the Flyers. I don't know what Chicago will be asking for in return, possibly Moller/Loktionov, Teubert & a pick but I don't mind giving away those guys.. I'd rather give Moller away before Loktionov, I see Lokti being our future 2nd line center, might be too small for that but hopefully he grows into his body..
Now I'm 100% sure that the acquisition of Patrick Sharp would eliminate the possibility of DL signing Kovalchuk but it wouldn't eliminate the possibility of signing Hamhuis & Matt Cooke..
Lineup next season:
Sharp-Kopitar-Williams
Smyth-Stoll-Brown
M. Cooke/Parse/K. Clifford-Handzus-Simmonds
Richardson-Schenn-Lewis
Clune, Westgarth
Doughty-Hamhuis
Johnson-Scuderi
Greene-Voynov/Martinez
Bernier
Quick

Drooling...On a Summer Afternoon...
…the entire league is eying Chicago like a pack of hungry wolves. Quisp did a fine job of hanging Chicago out for Kings Fans to salivate over. Suddenly the pickin’s is looking good.
I wonder about Westgarth, what do you expect? And, looks like THN cut his “Enforcer” column. Also wonder if Clifford is beefed up enough for a move up.
Mmmm, Sharp and Hamhuis. I would love that. Just out of curiosity, who would our main competitors for them likely be?
In Dinglebarn We Trust
Well Sharp kind of fits what the Flyers need, played there before and we have the cap space to grab him… Not sure if we will, but the fans love him and management in Philly treats it like a family business and guys always come back so that could be one possibility.
Pittsburgh is always looking for wingers who don’t suck too. NJ is the type of team that could make an offer if/when they lose Kovy.
Honestly though, the guy is a good 2 way player and a 30 goal scorer…. your competition is basically any team with the cap space to add him, Sharp is a good player and would help you guys out quite a bit.

I like the idea of adding both Sharp and Hamhuis
I was disappointed that Hamhuis refused to be traded at the deadline; Kings could have used him.
When it comes to Sharp, let’s not jump to conclusions about what the Kings would have to give up. If enough GMs realize that Chicago is dealing from a position of serious weakness (i.e., get rid of a bunch of players, or bring down the wrath of the Cap God), the Hawks will be in position to dictate terms. Besides, remember that they’re trading not to acquire talent in return, but to acquire cap space in return. Which means, the less they get in return, the fewer players they may have to dump.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Junior Bowman do some Charlie Finley-style housecleaning this summer.
