Get Ready for Day Two -- Who's Left?
This, according to me, is when the fun starts. Let's just make a couple of lists. List #1 is "who didn't get picked in the first round?" This is especially important because the players on list #1 will clog up the 31-48 picks, so we still have a shot at the players on List #2, "people I like."
LIST #1 -- WHO DIDN'T GET PICKED?
- John McFarland - CS #15
- Tyler Toffoli - CS #16
- Tyler Pitlick - CS #18
- Stanislav Galiev - CS #20
- Jon Merrill - CS #21
- Jordan Weal - CS #30
- Kirill Kabanov - CS #31
- Stephen Johns - CS #35
- Mark Alt - CS #37
- Brock Beukeboom - CS #41
LIST #2 - PEOPLE I LIKE
- Gregg Sutch
- Curtis Hamilton
- John Ramage
- Luke Moffatt
- Kevin Gravel
- Brad Ross
- Matt MacKenzie
- Brett Stern
- Justin Holl
- Joe Basaraba
- Max Gardiner
- Philipp Grubauer
- Philip Lane
- Raman Hrabarenka
- Justin Florek
- Pat Mullane
- Michael Bournival
- Louis-Marc Aubry

Kabanov
I must admit I am a bit intrigued by Kabanov because I know he has questions about his character plus the whole Russian/KHL thing going against him, BUT he has legit talent and skills. I don’t think I would be upset if the Kings took a chance on him in the 2nd or 3rd round because our prospect depth is so deep we could afford to take a bit of a risk and hope that the management and coaches/players could straighten him out as he matures and he could be an absolute steal to get so late. What are your thoughts Quisp?
I (probably like everyone) love the idea of picking Kabanov and having it work out
but not so much the idea that it doesn’t work out.
i expect someone to take him before the kings pick at 49. also, if lombardi picks him, i don’t think it will be because he’s rolling the dice, but because he or the staff have talked with him and other relevant people in his world and are satisfied he’s not a total nutjob. however, i think he’s probably a total nut job.
Wait till this year.
akay 47 hits it right
Akay47 is right on. We get BOTH Toffoli and Weal and deal pick # 79 to poor Toronto who needs it more than we do. DL , scouts and staff doing a great job. Toffoli has great offensive skills and do not know too much about Weal other than lots of people liked him and thought he would go in first two rounds for sure.
glaring flaws
RudyKelly may be right. I think Luc Robataille was very slow and is in the Hall of Fame. Marcel Dionne was small and he is in Hall of Fame. Toffoli can score and light it up when he is up to it. Weal had great stats in WHL and we all know DL loves WHL players and is not off the mark very often. So time will tell all about any prospects and you can also add in Gravel and Kitsen. Gravel has the skills to be a solid player and I think DL made good move getting him. He was rated 70th and we got him at 148, which also means nothing. Luc Robataille was 9th round draft choice when they had more rounds in the draft.
