I really like what Dean did in the draft this year. The first two picks he traded up to get a defenseman that we need and the best available center on the board and the rest of the picks was just what was best available at defense, center and left wing.
It certainly seems like the focus was on quality
From the remarks I’ve read about the different picks, I get the sense that this year was about getting the exact guys that the staff wanted, not about drafting to need, or filling out the reserve list.
That strikes me as a good sign, when you can trade up, two picks for one, because you’re insistent about the exact guy you want.
