This Carries Some Weighty Questions

Why?

Why couldn’t it have been to another western team?

And finally, why?

Interesting

Brian Willsie’s NHL career revolves entirely around three teams, one of which seems to have said, “Well, that was a mistake” (Kings) but two who brought him back years after letting him go (Colorado, and now Washington). Is that the triumph of hope over experience?

The fact is, there is a market for cheap, reasonably dependable utility players.

e.g. Peter Harrold. Peter Harrold is kind of the best version of that, or would be if he could play goalie.

Wait till this year.

This Kings did this for years. Most likely see more of this as things continue, a growing talent and money gap between the have and have not players.

Depth move. Hershey move. Not a caps move.

Not really. He’ll do good in the AHL.

Oh I’m sure.

I know y’all need something to get yourselves through the Kovalchuk shit, but ragging on this move is weird to me. I don’t think there is much of a chance he’ll even get a call up next season.

I think it was a knee-jerk reaction based off our bad experience. AHL is a very good point.

It all comes down to expectation, I think

Willsie did have one pretty good season that led one to think that maybe he could score 20 goals again. I’m sure that’s what the Kings saw, when in retrospect it was an outlier.

Ovechwin is right, of course. As a depth move, it makes sense.
