I was thinking about this today and I'm a little perplexed about who I would like to see on the Kovi-Kopi line (if it should actually happen), since Smytie would probably move down to the second line. My first gut feeling is that I would like to see Simmer on the right, or maybe Willie, but then what do you do with the other lines? It seems to me that having Smythe and Brown on the 2nd line doesn't really work that well, since they both can park themselves in front of the goalie. Which led me to think that maybe Brownie would be a really good choice on the Kovi-Kopi line. He can create space for them, check the hell out of players going after Kovi and Kopi and also plant himself in the crease. I haven't seen anyone talk about this combination (and it probably doesn't really matter because TM will try every combo), but here is what I've kind of worked out in my head, as far as the forwards go:
Smythe-Richie-Williams (Richie can center can't he? Maybe not a 2nd line center. If not switch him with Stoll)
Clifford/Schenn-Zeus-Simmonds (Zeus can mentor either Clifford or Schenn like he did with Simmonds)
Those would be some seriously good lines to roll. Every one of them has good offensive talent, defensive strength and someone parked at the front of the net. And I think Simmonds, Clune and Clifford/Schenn could enforce, if need be. Ideally, we get a d-man that could also be intimidating, but that is another conversation.
I'm a bit new at this (understanding the nuances of hockey and blogging). And I'm trying to start up any kind of hockey conversation because the whole waiting for Kovalchuk is making me a little crazy, and Quisp hasn't posted for a few days. I need hockey dialoge damn it!!
