Scoring winger
Why the heck haven't we signed stempniak? he scored 28+20=48 last year and lord knows we need the goals! plus, hes a hard worker and since he was with phoenix last year we should have scouted him right well. plus, hes only what, 26?? i think we can get him for 3 years/ 4.6 mil (if not less) and put him on the second line and have him fill in on the top line if we need that.
what do you all think??
I have never seen this person before in my life.

My guess is that people want to be sure what happened in Phx wasn’t a fluke, because he never really looked that great the whole rest of the season. The Leafs I know but still…
I rec’d that shit.

re: Scoring winger
Problem is that I think we are still caught up in the Kovalchuk waiting game. Till he signs an approved contract we just seem to be stuck in the mud about doing anything about our offensive needs. I could live with the Kings signing Stempniak. I would not hold against anybody the fact that they underperformed in Toronto.
Drop the puck, drop the mitts...Now that's hockey!
His shooting percentage on Phoenix was some ridiculous number. He’d prbably be a decent addition to the Kings at the right price, but he’s far more like the guy us Leaf fans know (not to mention the guy who played for Phoenix in the playoffs), than the guy who scored a ton of goals after the deadline.
He’d be useful to the Kings because they already have some great forwards. Buit he’s not going to put LA over the top.
Players can get on streaks. I don’t know if a similar performance can be expected. He is capable and could be expected to play and hold his position but at $4.6M I question if management would consider this an acceptable hit.
The Leaf thing is a hard call as I can’t say that team ever jelled to a point where solid assessments of player performance vs expectations could be made.
Also agree that there may be Upchuk residual and the “wait and hedge your bet” game has not ended in the Kings front office.
Good call, baldhedjer.
