- 1 day till Hockey Fest (9/11, El Segundo).
- 4 days till the Kings vs. Yotes rookie scrimmage (9/14, Phoenix).
- 8 days till training camp (9/18, El Segundo).
- 12 days till the first pre-season game, Kings vs. Avs (9/22, Denver).
- 13 days till the first pre-season home game, Kings vs. Yotes (9/23, Staples).
- 22 days till Frozen Fury XIII, Kings vs. Avs (10/2, MGM Grand, Las Vegas).
- 29 days till the regular season begins.

Hey Quisp,
According to Hammond (a post from last week), rookie camp starts on the day of Hockey Fest (Sept. 11th). Are you sure it starts on the 10th?
I saw the mid summer version and I’m looking forward to next week’s version but I’m looking for a confimation on the dates…
Anybody planing on attending the first day (Friday the 10th, if that is the first day per this post)?

See, the confusing part for me was you commented in response to kiosku2, directly above.
“A century from the Stanley Cup.” That probably sounds longer than it is.
How long do you think it will take with:
- one 40-50 goal scorer in his prime.
- one 30 goal scorer, still young.
- one 30 goal scorer 6-7 years past his prime, who you can count on for 20-30 goals, if healthy. (3-4 years left max.)
- one 20 goal scorer, still young.
- one 20-30 goal scorer in his sixteenth season, probably good for 20 goals, maybe more. (3-4 years left max.)
- one 38 year old guy who scored 30 goals 4 times in 16 years, and might have it in him to get 20 this year. (1-2 years left max.)
- a 38 year old elite goalie who might be able to squeeze out another 3 years.
- a couple of solid defensemen in their prime.
To round off, that’s a 40 goal guy, a couple of 30s, two 20s and one 10to20. 160-180 goals from 6 guys. If you’re lucky. And three of those guys, plus your HoF goalie, will be gone 3-4 years from now.
The Kings, meanwhile, have between 9 and 13 guys who will score 20 goals this year, 4-5 of whom may score 30, one of whom may score 40.
And, by the way, the league record for 20 goal scorers in a single season? Never mind. I almost spoiled my next post…

Something MORE clever then JFTC. Then kiss his ASS on everything he does, even if its WRONG! You know, sign a player that THINKS he’s better than his countryman, but doesn’t play any defense and expects some dumbass GM to pay him EQUAL amount of money. Then an owner wants him and WANTS to pay him what he wants because he can fill the HALF empty seats in the clubs NEW arena that the city paid for. So they tried to send a contract that gets rejected because it circumvents the CBA. So they send another contract that is approved, but with ammendments to the CBA because of this Jackass. Now that I think of it, maybe we SHOULD change our name to IDWT?!?

First of all, you’ll see in Kovalchuk’s game he played defense for the Devils. He didn’t with the Thrashers because lets face it nobody plays defense on the Thrashers. Kovy doesn’t think he is better then everyone on the team. He wanted that money because he has a very big family. Would you want 100 million dollars if you were regarded as a top guy in the league? If you get your facts straight on the “half empty seats” you’ll see the Devils were not half empty. And if you follow other things then hockey you’ll see were in a recession. But sure go ahead and laugh at the people who love the Devils but can’t afford a ticket there. Funny. And finally, if Dean sent a contract that was similar to Kovalchuk’s but to Doughty, you would say the same thing? I don’t think so.

1. I’ve watch some of the Devil’s games last season when they got Kovadonnachuk and I had not once seen him play defense.
2. Red Wings doesn’t have any problems filling Joe Louis Arena and they suffer the WORST of the recession. And if the Devil’s arena isn’t half empty, then why is the city trying to sell it if its a moneymaker?
3. There is NO WAY Dean would commit to one of his players with a ridiculous contract like Kovadonnachuks. And truthfully, I can’t speak for anyone else in this blog but I WOULD BE UNCONFORTABLE, if Dean did the same as Lou. If he did that, I would start a petition to get Dean put in a padded cell because that WOULD be crazy.
Connie Kim, the original overlord of this site, coined the name, as a twist on her previous blog,
“A Queen Among Kings.” I’m pretty sure SBN has a rule against the team name being in the blog title, so she couldn’t use that.
