I’m shocked that the majority would protect Poni instead of Parse. Poni is an unproven player for us on a 1 year contract. Parse has a lot of upside and Parse or Scooter as we in 305 call him still has a ton of upside and has 2 more years at less then a 3rd of Poni’s contract.

i voted to protect Parse….i dont get that either…maybe its because we just signed him and wouldnt want to lose him right away….
then again…this is a mock draft scenario….

They would probably have some rule that you have to protect a player you had just signed that off-season anyway.

For every moment of triumph, for every instance of beauty, many souls must be trampled.

The expansion draft occurs before the draft normally, and therefore prior to july 1.

On the Mike Weber bandwagon.
Everything wrong with the Sabres is Drew Stafford's fault.

I think that I left Williams and Poni unprotected because they were both on 1 year deals.

Now which player do you think the Kings would lose in the draft? I’m thinking Parse would be taken due to a low contract and good potential.

Drewiske would probably be taken too.

I protected Parse too…You know what you’re going to get with Poni, which is not bad, but Parse seems to have more upside and more years ahead of him. (It’s funny how Kings’ fans ideology has change with players. 20 years ago we would have let unproven guys go.)

I protected Parse and not Smyth

gambling that the mock GMs won’t take on the salary.

All the unprotected are good players. Drewiske, Harrold and Ersberg are affordable and excellent in their roles of third-pairing d, swiss army knife and back-up goalie, respectively. Williams could well score 30 goals this year. Parse is great (in my opinion) but I don’t know if he gets picked. Actually, he probably does, since I’ve been harping on his statistical virtues pretty consistently over the last year, and at least one of the GMs is “statistically motivated.”

Wait till this year.

It’s hard to say for sure until you see what players have already been picked. If Ersberg looks to be the best backup available, he may get picked. If you need a potential, injury-prone RW with Stanley Cup experience, then go with Williams.

If you want Captain Canada and need help getting to the salary cap floor, then you pick Smyth.

I would have protected Parse over Stoll. We’ll call that salary dump and opening up room for Schenn to steal the spot. Every other loss I can stomach, including Williams because of his injury frequency.

I voted to protect Parse over Ponikarovsky, as well. I think JFTC was hit by some sort of Ukranian vote-bot which sabotaged the true results of our poll.
