Yzerman signs Randy Jones

Lightning Sign Free Agent Defenseman Randy Jones - Tampa Bay Lightning - News
"Randy is a skilled defenseman, capable of playing in all situations on both the right and left side," Yzerman said. "His addition gives us some needed depth on the blue line."

So, let's see...

Seriously, may be my new favorite team in the East. Good luck, Randy Jones. You rocked in November/December '09.

Good luck to all concerned

After having the summer to rest and clear his head, he may return to the unexpectedly helpful Randy Jones that we saw in Nov/Dec, before he got clocked.

Why do I have this funny feeling that...

Randy Jones is going to put together a season of play that resembles Nov/Dec. of 2009 and make us ask, what if? His new teammate (Purcell) sure did that last year. Just like with Teddy though, just because he ends of doing it somewhere else doesnt mean he could ever do it with us. You end up having to ship him out. Oh well, it is what it is…

Eh, I won’t have any regrets. Best of luck to Stevie Y, though.

Yeah, Satchel Paige and all that

i.e., Don’t look back, ‘cause something might be gaining on you. Since I believe that Jones’ shaky second half was directly connected to lingering effects of that concussion-that-was-never-called-a-concussion, I share your feeling. A summer of rest and recovery may make a world of difference for him.

But yeah, I just couldn’t see the Kings bringing him back as a UFA in any event, certainly not after signing Mitchell. And not with Drewiskie/Harrold and all the kids nipping at his heels. He was kind of a bridge guy, in his own way.

I like him. He gave it up (and I don't mean "the puck"). He scored some timely goals.

But then, I wasn’t anti-Modry either. And I thought Gauthier had his moments. WAIT A MINUTE!

Wait till this year.

I hope someone tells the city of Tampa Bay

to watch out for ominous full-size vans at local high schools

I have no “favorite team”. I’m a fan of hockey.

Last year I especially enjoyed watching the Avs and Kings. This year it’ll be Tampa for sure and maybe the Avs again.

Let’s go already.

Yup, Tampa bay's looking rather good right now...

But, I think in a few years, the Panthers and Isles are gonna get strong, if all goes well that is. They both had a real strong draft on paper, and well the Panthers, as far down in the shitter as they may be, have Dave Tallon at the helm, who pretty much built the Cup champs from this year.

Randy Jones is from New-Brunswick, just like me :) He’s one of the very rare players from New-Brunswick as a matter of fact. He had a pretty good start with you guys! Didn’t really follow him the rest of the way though.
