I'll ask again: why hasn't Colin Fraser come off "injured non-roster"?
A few weeks ago, Colin Fraser was cleared (according to Fraser) to participate in full practices, and (according to Hammond) has been doing so since. However, as I mentioned back then, when Fraser returns to the active roster, that would give the Kings 24 active players, and someone would have to move. Players on injured reserve have to come off IR as soon as they are cleared to play. I thought this was the case for "injured non-roster" players as well. But apparently not. (The reason Fraser is not on IR is that he was not on last year's roster and he wasn't injured in camp.)
It looks to me like Lombardi has found a way to keep a roster of 24 indefinitely. Maybe this is a common ploy, and it's just the first time I'm noticing it. Fraser is in effect a healthy scratch (as far as I know; I'm working with incomplete information), but he is not listed as such. He's engaging in full practices, but he's not on the roster. He's nowhere.
Thoughts?

Pretty weird. It’s like having a practice player available to us.

It’s very strange. I would have thought, like Quisp, that once he was cleared, then they would have to do something with him. I keep expecting to hear he’s been put on waivers or sent to Manchester on a “conditioning” assignment, which really wouldn’t be that big of a stretch considering how long he’s been injured. I have to wonder how long the Kings will get away with this.
Agreed
My guess would be the Kings are still getting him used to the system/in shape and don’t think he is ready to play in Manchester even. Since he is a new player they probably have a little more leeway in keeping him on IR to give him more time to adjust to the time than they would otherwise get. Basically, I think they are allowed to keep a player on IR for longer to get in “game shape” because it would be unfair that as soon as cleared by a doctor a player must be activated since a surgery could cause them to just start getting in shape. In addition to the conditioning is the adjustment to a new team and system but I’d expect fairly soon he is sent down for a conditioning assignment with the Monarchs before a decision will have to be made to add him to the active roster and get rid of someone else or cut Fraser loose.
This whole situation has been strange since day one. We still havent even heard of any compensation (or not) from EDM for this dubious trade. Too bad for Fraser, though. He should be cut loose so he has a chance on another team if the Kings dont want him. I really dont even see where he would fit here anyways!
I believe it’s a way to keep him here without any issues to making room for him. If we have an injury he can be activated then inserted into the line up without the Kings losing anyone. They wouldn’t have to make a move till the player coming back is ready. Kind of like a season freebee woth regards to injury depth.
That makes sense. It doesnt further his career though just being a “practice” player. It seems that the PA would have something to say on the matter if thats what it trully is. I guess time will tell.
heh. heh. heh.
the PA caring about Colin Fraser.
heh. heh. heh.
You wanna tell me that to mah face?!

When can we go back to Rock and Roll Part 2 by Gary Glitter for our goal song??

Because I attended many games at the GW Forum while growing up, “Rock & Roll Pt. II” will always have a special place in my memory. However, I think the Sharks and their Fisher-Price® in house entertainment system have commandeered “Rock & Roll Pt. II” and ruined it for me going forward.
Each time I had to hear “Rock & Roll Pt. II” banged out over HP Sauce Pavillion’s Casio Keyboard sound system during last season’s playoffs, I had to fight back the urge to vomit profusely and gargle on Brillo pads.

Apologies for being off topic, but...
I wanted to add that the Quacks are terrible and should just throw in the towel on their franchise or at least the season.

Stunning coincidence, his first game is against the Kings
First of all, nobody's ever thought that. Ever.

This might be stupid but
Is it possible that the filed greivance gives him some sort of special status that keeps him off the roster?
