Wow. Luongo benched?
Cory Schneider will start in the stead of the reportedly healthy Roberto Luongo tonight in Chicago.

Wonder what messes more with Luongo's mind..
Giving up tons of goals in a game..or being benched…
Similar to Niemi situation...
Played well for them all season. Benched twice in 5 games this playoffs. The main difference I see is that Schneider has been a solid backup all year… while Nittymaki has started 3 games in 2011. But he’s been solid in this two relief appearances.
I’d start Niemi and then pull him after the first shift. :)
I’m hoping for Niemi. He can’t be feeling too confident right now.
Schneider looking pretty good. I wonder if they continue to ride him?
Quite possibly the only LA Kings fan living in Brooklyn, New York.
The weight of the world is definitely on Vancouver now
This is an epic meltdown unfolding…
We sort of know something about that…
Go away, or pass away. Your choice.
Barca Blaugranes
This begs the question...
How do you prefer to pull a band-aid: Really fast (the Kings) or bit by bit (the Canucks)?
It looks like Schneider pulled his groin....
So what happens if Lou craps out? I feel a Hawks victory coming:)
The 2010-11 Canucks Are the Best Team Since the 1977 Habs
hahahahahahahahah
Does the fact that they have let a Blackhawks team that backed into the playoffs as the 8th seed come back from down 3-0 to force a 7th game, winning Games 4 and 5 by a combined 12-2 score mean that we can finally put to bed the BS notion that this Canucks team is the best of the modern era?
I’m sure we won’t see the troll Canuck fans in here again gloating about their top-ranked power play and penalty kill (it ended 3rd, by the way) and being both the best offensive and defensive team in the NHL this season. The best team of their generation would not have let an inferior team like the Blackhawks (or any team, for that matter) off the mat when down 3-0. Even if the Canucks take Game 7 (and I still think they will) they have proven in this series that they were a joke from the start. Clearly their residence in the Northwest Divison meant a lot more than Canuck fans wanted to believe. Yes, playing the two worst teams in the league 12 times during the regular season will in fact pad your statistics. The Canucks have won nothing and their arrogant fans deserve this epic meltdown for their cocky unearned attitude all season, believing everyone else was so inferior to them that they shouldn’t bother playing.
If the Hawks pull off the comeback I will not feel at all sorry for the mass of a-hole Canuck fans who counted the rest of us out ages ago. Best team ever? Biggest fail ever is more like it.
So do I have this right?
If Chicago wins, Round 2 will either be:
SJ-CHI / DET-NSH or DET-CHI / NSH-LAK
If Vancouver wins, it would be either:
VAN-NSH / SJ-DET or VAN-LAK / DET-NSH

This is correct; highest remaining seed plays the lowest remaining seed, etc.

Yeah… I pretty much knew that part, but since I don’t want to jinx anything, I’ve used this very very vague post showing the possibilities.
Basically, if the sharks were to advance, they’d play Chicago or Detroit. And I have a feeling they could get killed by either of these. On the other hand, let’s say the sharks for some reason don’t advance…. the team that would advance instead of them probably has matchups that I would prefer to have if I could pick.

This Chicago-Vancouver series has been weird, but fun. Less so in the press.
You have the Vancouver media, which is prone to going nuts, and has primed the fanbase for anti-Canadian conspiracy theories before; and on the other side, you have the homer Chicago media, which is already taunting the Canucks as if game 7 has already been played.
Crazy!
Whatever happens, though, I just hope they leave Theo Fleury alone.

For me, that series is really like a war where you wish both sides would lose.
I would be equally happy to watch the fan base of either team implode over a disappointing loss, but I really wish it could happen to both.

There are nutjobs and perfectly nice fans for any team, though success will breed a lot more of the arrogant kind no matter where you go. I have to think the regional media exerts a lot of influence, too.
We get gloom-and-doomed by our writers, so is it any wonder that there’s so much pessimism? I wish there was more of a middle ground.
But yesterday was a great day for hockey. I already got my other-series-wish, a Nashville win and a Ducks loss. The fact that I already liked the Preds was just gravy. Go Smashville!

Yeah, I have to admit that it was nice to see the Preds finally win a playoff series. Plus — I recall someone around here pointing out that Barry Trotz looks like Boris Badenov, and that only makes me like him more.
And it’s comforting, in a “the worst case isn’t so bad” sort of way, to know that even with the worst possible outcome to this season for the Kings, at least the Ducks went to the Loser’s Holding Pen first. :-)
