The Kings successfully defended the Fragile Psyche Cup, needing only one round to win it for the second time in as many years. The Sharks competed valiantly, taking numerous stupid penalties and spotting the Kings' early (theoretically insurmountable) leads in multiple games, but were overmatched by the Kings' impenetrable and ruthlessly efficient lead-blowing assault. The Sharks repeatedly started and pulled confused goaltender Antti Niemi in an attempt to force a game seven, but in the end, the law of averages finally caught up with the them. Two-time Cloutier Award (Fragile Psyche Cup MVP) winner Joe Thornton inadvertently scored his first career OT goal, crushing his team's hopes for a record fifth cup. The timing could not have been worse. San Jose can still save face if they fall apart in round two, but for many in the fan base, it's already too late.

I thought they would
Have to give them credit, though; they gutted it out in that last game.
Hammond is posting end-of-season comments from Murray and Lombardi over at LAKI. As he himself says, nothing Earth-shattering, but someinteresting and illuminating stuff.

If you look at the good teams, you have to define the problem and then recognize the signs that this is not going to seep in again. That’s the responsibility of your captains and your young people going, that when you get off to 12-3 and you start seeing that slide, knock it off.
Uh how bout the coaches?
Quite possibly the only LA Kings fan living in Brooklyn, New York.
I think the Canucks might still be rattled. You have Sedin saying things like “they had no business being in this series” and that Vancouver outplayed them all the way (mmm, not quite). But he goes out of his way to say something like that.

The Kings really pulled through to nab this one, but it seems like there should be a Fragile Psyche Cup for each round.

Great.
Now I’m just picturing Niemi wandering around the bowels of the Staples Center all confused and asking himself “Where am I?”
I hope everyone knows I have no intention of facing this sober.
lost because he was searching
he was either searching for the meaning of life, or more likely TM as he thought that it was he who had forgotten to shake hands with TM

Best line ever. I can see him at his locker during the post-game interviews, weeping to reporters, “I didn’t mean to! It was an accident!”

Thanks for not writing the entire article upside down…Poor Kings, can’t get out of their own way sometimes. Like the direction of this team mostly, already looking forward to the offseason and what lineup changes are made. Lot of bright spots on the roster but some serious offensive holes to plug. Go Kings Go!
hey
anyone read the kings eulogy on puckdaddy?
the blades in teal rep wrote it…and it fucking infuriated me…..i have been civil with them as we all have….giving credit where credit is due….but that fucking asshole…..fuck….i read the eulogy we did for the ducks…and we poked a prodded…but it was sane and gave a real assessment of them as a team while getting our bashes in here or there….
i dont know what happened for ours…but this douchbag does more shit talking than purdy did….idk…just mad….
oh and now i dont know who to root for in the playoffs…..kings-out pens-out sabers-out…i wanted van out…didnt get my wish….stupid van….

I’ve grown to like the Preds ever since they beat the Dux. I want both SJ and Detroit to lose.
I want the Bruins to beat Philly, and I’m rooting for TB.
A TB/Nashville Stanley cup final won’t happen, but it would be pretty bad ratings-wise.

I like the Preds and Philly and their blogs are also good. I’ve also decided to stop fighting my complete and total love for Pavel Datsyuk. I don’t care if my beloved ET Gandalf is a Red Wing anymore! I must follow him.
That doesn’t mean I’m reading A2Y, though (shudder).

It’s supposed to be trash-talky. They do that deliberately. You’re right, Rudy’s was more real analysis. But they hated it all the same.
It’s supposed to be a poke in the eye.

Also, I think because it’s an ordinary blog, when they decide to do their yearly trollish series of posts (or let Lambert post his deliberately stupid/antagonistic stuff), it adds to the confusion. But it’s the tradition.

no i know...
its meant to be a roast of sorts…..i just think it crossed a line is all…..
i read them every year for every team…ive never had a problem with any of them til i read this one…..it was like personal attacks on players….
idk…it struck me the wrong way i guess….
i guess ill go for a tampa bay nashville cup….mostly because i dont really care for the other teams….boston im 50/50 on…..
i think its kinda strange that the 123 and 5 seeds from both conferences advanced.

Yeah, it’s supposed to be funny, and I think the person tried hard. Instead they made fun of weird things (Kopi in the stands? Richardson losing his teeth? — real knee-slappers). Trashtalk is supposed to be clever. Should have left it to Meg at BoC.
But you know what? It’s a perfect opportunity to trashtalk them right back in the comments. Give ’em hell. :)

na im over it....
i never post on yahoo….or anywhere else….except her and rarely BoC…..
it felt more like a low blow as opposed to clever trash talk….
now we can take a break…see who wins the cup…and start looking ahead to next year….
