Change the name of the Pacific to Southwest and I’m on board too.

Detroit has been lobbying the NHL to move to the Eastern Conference for years and it makes sense to me. Especially if they are in the same division as Toronto. So how about:

I am also completely in favor of naming the Southeast Division the Humid Division. Make it so.

maybe swap the penguins for the flyers in the southeast. that way the nhl gets its sidney / ovi wet dream and keeps the flyers near the rangers and devils.

Time Zones should count for something...

Nashville is in the Central Time Zone, while Detroit is in East Coast time. I believe there is no way Nashville would get to move east before Detroit. Sorry West coast teams that like to beat up on the most travel weary team in the Conference. I’m looking forward to a nice string of SCF appearances for the newly Easter Conf. representing Red Wings!!!

Did you just call the Red Wings travel-weary?

You are so completely wrong it’s hilarious

They aren’t even in the top 10 of miles traveled. They are 17th this year, 14th last year. Also, because they are in the Western Conference, they get fewer back to back games. They are in the bottom 10 in that category.

my bad...

But I still think they would end up in the East over Nash.

It’s easy for us on the West Coast to forget that Detroit is actually on the western edge of the Eastern Time Zone, and so in that sense it’s part of the East rather than the Midwest. So moving Detroit to the Eastern Conference would make sense in that way.

Columbus is in the Central Time Zone, yes? As is Nashville.

Typical Whine Wings a$$

Not sure about the rest of the West Coast but the Kings fairly well beat up dirt-troit even as the “travel weary” team 2-0 this year. Sorry but Columbus is further east and the NHL won’t split up Chicago-detroit, the fact is the East would eat you old fools up anyway.
Bring on dirt-troit, Kings have and will continue to beat up these old farts.
Nashville to the SE, Dallas to Central, Colorado or Vancouver (they won’t be good forever) to the West Coast division.

I like this

I think that the NW should be changed to the North Division. Manitoba is hardly Northwest.

If Smashville is in the Eastern conference, you might as well give them their Conference Champions gear now. West dominates East.

by IamTheWarlus on May 21, 2011 7:46 PM PDT reply actions

Doubt it

Look at the SC Champs since 1990, its 10-10. There is nothing cyclical on those grounds in any league
