Any requests for free agent pick-up's other than Brad Richards?
I like Benoit Pouliot, Jussi Joikanen, Eric Cole and Joel Ward. Any thoughts...kind of curious on what King fans like. I know the knock on Benoit is his skating is suspect but he is huge at 6-3 200lbs, he is a former first round draft pick, plus I think he will be playing with better talent in LA than he did in Montreal. I like Jussi and Eric Cole alot...I think they could work out in our system. Jussi as a sniper and Cole as a grinder. Joel Ward looked great near the end of last season and in the playoffs. I think he would be great for our third line. Hard worker and great hussler...reminds me of Simmonds. Your thoughts please King Fans.

Jussi Jokinen would be a fantastic replacement for Smyth on the Left Wing. But the guy I would really like to see Lombardi target as an upgrade over the departed Meat Train is Michael Ryder to play Right Wing.

I like Erik Cole as a replacement for Smyth at LW2. He netted 52 points last season (26g-26a), only 8 of which were on the power play (we need the 5-on-5 scoring!). He would probably cost a minimum of 3.5 million. Unfortunately, it looks like he has a bit of an injury history, although he played all 82 games last season. He’s a veteran in his early 30s, but I think there’s plenty of gas left in that tank.
Another potential LW2 would be Simon Gagne. He netted 17-23-40 (but was a -12, if you put any stock in that stat). Also, 15 of those points were on the power play (despite the dropoff last season, I think our power play staff is fine, and we need the 5-on-5 scoring more). He’s got an injury history, though – 58 games played in 09-10, and 63 games in 10-11. He’ll probably wanted upwards of $4mil, considering his salary in Tampa was $5.25mil. That said, he’s played with Richards before, which could be an intangible ‘plus’. Out of all the candidates available at LW, he has the highest ceiling. I believe LA went after him before he signed with TB the last time he was UFA…
After that on my list would probably be Jussi Jokinen (yes, he’s had two good years the last two years, but he is more assist-oriented than goal oriented and his shooting % the last two years has been anomalously high at .188 and .140). I haven’t seen him play much, but based on stats alone (dangerous, I know!) I’d prefer Gagne to him.
As for a RW3 to replace Simmonds, I think Richardson deserves the shot. He plays tenacious like Simmer, but doesn’t have the size. Since Murray never uses his 4th line anyway, we can have Moller come toil away for 5 minutes a night when Westgarth isn’t in the lineup. I’d say allow Moller to play 3rd line, but that’s usually Murray’s “shutdown” line.
So with that in mind, these lines would make me happy:
Penner-Kopitar-Williams
(Cole/Gagne)-Richards-Brown
Clifford-Stoll-Richardson
Parse-Loktionov/Lewis-Lewis/Moller/Westgarth
If Murray feels like experimenting, he can throw Brown on the 3rd, Richardson on the 4th, and give Moller a few cracks at the top 6, but I don’t see it happening.
I think the above lineup gives us 4 really solid lines, and Murray gets his wish of having a goon as an option.
He plays tenacious like Simmer

i like richardson
i love how he plays hard every night. he hussles and I loved him in game 3-5 in the playoffs. I am a little worried about Gagne and Cole’s health. They probably will not play a full season and I think Cole only played a full season cause it was a contract year for him. Jussi also has been injured but he is a good sniper and is in his hockey prime…so they say (age 27). I would love to see Moller come to camp amd play on a speed line with Lewis, Richardson/Loktionov.
Those are all good options
Even though there probably isn’t an obvious role for him (the Kings already having suitable bottom 6 guys), I wouldn’t mind having Eric Belanger back. Good defender, excellent face-off guy, strong on the PK, can chip in some scoring. A poor man’s Brian Rolston, and that’s not a knock.
It looks like he’s still put up respectable numbers, and Hammond says he only made 750k last year, so he’d probably come cheap.

Whoa boy!
I just tried reading the comments over at Hammond’s blog from his recent post regarding free agency. I was cruising right along until I saw this…
No question for D James Wisniewski or Ed Jovanovski or Brent Sopel Thomas Kaberle
Really? The Kings need another defenseman?

I hope not
we do not need another defensemen. let some of the kids play to fill out those roles
Can't we get Stamkos
for 5 years 45 million. we will give up 4 first round draft picks but I’m sure we will get that back for doughty and let voyonov or hicky come up and play.
