Even allowing for an error in translation, that can't be good
Q: You have played with Avery for the Kings and Rangers and once called him your friend.
AF: Yes, we are friends and we still communicate. Just not as often, since we live on different continents now. Q: Why does everyone hate him?
AF: It’s not hate, it’s… He has a specific role, he is a pretty unique man and he likes to do, let’s say, extravagant things. Sometimes they’d be bordering on the forbidden. He isn’t a fool. Lately he has become calmer, smarter. Before he’d get swept away with emotions and do something stupid. To mention each and every one of his stunts… Something always happens around him, it’s a part of his job. He needs to be talked about. He loves it, he feels at home in the spotlight. Sometimes he called opponents "black monkeys." He did a lot of things, I can’t remember all of them.
So, I guess Georges Laraque was telling the truth?

well
We are all monkeys, still shouldn’t be said in that context
I like that he called him a “black monkey,” like he didn’t want Laraque to think he was calling him an orangutan or something.
I hope Kyle Clifford gets a hold of him when the Kings play the Rangers in Europe.
I hope Simmonds gets a hold of him the 6 times this season the Flyers and Rangers face off!

nice to hear from Fro......
….I know many Kings fans hate him “with the fire of a thousand suns”, but he was the only decent player we had around here for several years, and his best years were wasted on poor teams….hope he has future success in either the NHL or KHL.
[sarcasm on\] But… but… he spoke out in favor of gay marriage, so that makes him a good person, no matter what! [sarcasm off/]
You picks your poison, I guess. [rolleyes]
For me, a story that a commenter on LAKI told last year kind of sums up Sean Avery. It’s really about Matty Norstrom, but you’ll see:
This guy went to see the Kings play in Calgary, and afterwards he waits outside the visiting locker room entrance. It’s -30, bitterly cold night, but Norstrom is happy to sign his program and chat for a while. Even goes to pick up the program when the wind blows it out of the guy’s hand. Very cool. Then Rob Blake comes out, and he joins in, and they’re all chatting. Also cool. Then Avery comes out. He sees them, snickers audibly (like a stage whisper), then makes a show of taking out his cell phone and (maybe pretending) to talk on it as he walks by them. Blake shakes his head and rolls his eyes.

No suprise
This guy has always been the consumate asshole. He was disruptive in the locker room even if he played good hockey. Can’t keep his mouth shut to save his life. I really don’t like violent play in hockey but I wouldn’t mind someone beating the shit out of him…
Yep, Avery has some big issues but
I’ll always appreciate him just a little for that whole Brian Hayward incident…
Classic…
:-)
Avery is Ian L. without the class…
These are not the best links but it gives you an idea

He just basically called Hayward out in the dressing room which for me, being an absolute Hayward hater, was kind of fun to read about…
