Where to watch Kings' games online - Help needed
First, apologies to the admin if this is the wrong place for such a post.
I'm looking to ditch my cable bill on account of a hectic year ahead but still want to watch hockey, of course. Two questions:
1) Are you unable to watch Kings' games through NHL Center Ice?
2) Are there any services out there that would allow me to watch Kings games on the internet (I'm fine paying)?
Thanks.

I recall comments from folks that implied that they were able to watch the Kings on Center Ice, but they don’t necessarily get Bob & Jim all the time (i.e., it may be the other team’s feed). Also, I wonder if it depends on whether or not you live in the Kings’ designated broadcast region; it seems like Center Ice is designed to respect the local broadcasting rights by only showing “out-of-market” games. So if you’re in the LA area, I think the Kings are blacked out.
But I’d be interested in information on this topic, too. Every now and then, I think about ditching cable. There seem to be more and more times when my TV viewing (except for live sports) is dominated by DVDs and other kinds of on-demand viewing.

The NHL’s official setup for internet streaming is Game Center Live. Although, in my experience, the “home” broadcast is not necessarily Bob & Jim (I’ve sometimes gotten the Canadian feed, for some reason). You can pay in installments, and the pricing is similar to Center Ice. I’ve also hooked up the laptop to my flatscreen.
Is that the kind of info you’re looking for?

Are you still in the LA area because I’m pretty sure Kings games are usually blacked out on Center Ice if you are.
Thanks...
Doug, that’s exactly why I’m looking to make the switch. Asides from the Kings and a few miscellanea I don’t watch much actual “TV”…I will miss live Breaking Bad, though.
Niesy & Rudy, thanks, with a question. I actually live in San Clemente, OC, so I’m thinking my home market belongs to the team that will not be mentioned. Would this mean that I could get Kings’ games, with Bob & Jim? I’m only asking because the morons at Center Ice were less than helpful…

My brother lives in SD and he gets Ducks games blacked out but not Kings games, but I think some areas can have more than one team blacked out.
They try to hide the blackout locations because they don’t want you to know before you buy it so I would say to them, “I live in this zip code. Can I get Kings games? If you don’t give me an answer I’m hanging up and not buying your product.” They know, they just don’t want to tell you.
FWIW, I’ve just gone through a thread on another (non-sports) blog, in which the author wanted opinions on dropping DirecTV, which sounded like the equivalent of dropping cable for me. The overwhelming tenor of the answers seemed to be: If you don’t watch sports, you’ll be fine, but if you do, you won’t be able to adequately replace ESPN and the Fox Sports channels.
Sigh.
Otherwise, I’d ditch TWC for a $60 Roku box and get by on Netflix and Amazon Prime, plus the stuff I already have ripped and stored on my old Apple TV.
Of course, I’d probably settle for ala carte pricing, so that I’m not subsidizing a ton of channels I never watch (I’m a bachelor and Lifetime and Oxygen are part of my subscription??). But I’m not holding my breath waiting on that.
