Frolov denies saying that Avery said what Avery previously denied saying he said

Frolov says interview misquoted him, denies saying Sean Avery used racial slurs | New York Daily News

In Germany as he trains for the upcoming KHL season [...], Frolov was stunned to learn that he had caused such a stir with words that he did not say. "I didn’t have a chance to read the article," Frolov told the Daily News by phone. "[...] They asked me about Aves and I said he’s a friend of mine and a really nice guy. What I said was that he, in the past, used to have problems where he could say something, but he’s a really nice person and good friend of mine." [...] [The] interview with Frolov [...]  saying that Avery "called opponents ‘black monkeys.’" Frolov vehemently denied having said that. "I didn’t say anything about Aves calling someone bad language – I was saying he’s really emotional and that in the past he could say the wrong thing," Frolov told The News. "It wasn’t particularly about black people. He doesn’t have anything against black people. I mean, he’s a nice person, and he wouldn’t say something bad about black people or Asian people or any kind of people. It’s some kind of misunderstanding."

Holy crap that is sooo funny. Best laugh in a couple of days.

Meanwhile, Frolov gets added to the LeBron James club for athletes who are sadly misunderstood, misquoted and have words taken out of context by the evil press.

Could be as a Russian who never immersed himself in the US culture Alex considers the comment as offhand, of little importance and does not consider/understand the greater context.

Maybe he called Laraque a Sock Monkey. That thing is terrifying.

Coming from Avery?

Anybody who lets Avery get to you, is a monkey for falling for it. He has 1 agenda, 1 agenda only. To piss you off, and he’s the best I’ve ever seen at it.

He wouldn’t say something bad about black people or Asian people or any kind of people.

I gotta say, somehow the bolded made me chuckle, and I pictured Avery dressed as Stuart Smalley doing a Daily Affirmation.

Now that I think of it...

Frolov probably meant Avery wouldn’t say something bad about “any kind of people… Well except French Frogs, but they’re not really people, right?”

I’m sure he’s going “I was trying to talk about Avery’s role as an agitator, and how he’s matured…instead it all blew up”

Poor awkward Fro.

Patrick Marleau was often heard using the phrase “talk to the hand” in the late 90’s and then giggling hysterically.

Hey Foxy, would you call that a doh-si-doh or a dipsy doodle?
