Question for JftC faithful
Probably you are aware that California hockey has exploded lately, with the success of Emerson Etem, Shane McColgan, Mitch Wahl, Brandon Kozun, Beau Bennett, Mitch Callahan, Brian Salcido, Jonathon Blum, Gabe Gauthier, Ryan Hollweg, Ray Macias, Garrett Stafford, Brett Sterling and probably many others I'm missing. Anyway, my question is, how many of you are involved in So Cal youth hockey, as a parent, sibling, coach, instructor, Zamboni driver, skate sharpener, volunteer, fan, or, obviously, player or former player?

My high school had a roller team i played on, but that was 10 years ago. Today i play ice on a beer league
I did as well.. Got to play our championship game at the Pond back when the Bullfrogs were around. That was my Al Bundy moment.

I learned to play in SoCal under a man named Jack White….thanks a million Jack.
I went on to coach high school hockey (I think the less natural skill the better the coach…at least in my case) and at that time also act as an assistant trustee for the high school league in our area.
Are Teemu Selanne and Melanie Griffith Twins?
Is that one of Ron white’s sons?

Can’t say but if I recall Jack’s son Brad played with the Jr Kings or in juniors at time.

Ron opened anaheim glacial gardens (not sure what its called now), and I think he still owns lakewood glacial gardens. Old tallish guy with white-ish gray hair. His youngest son was Chris white. Had an older son or two, thought he might have been named jack. I dunno though.

I played against gauthier, played a couple of times with/against stafford and Noah Clarke. I think maybe also brett sterling but don’t remember.
We played shattuck st marys when Andy Murray was the coach there as well. Probably played against some now current nhlers while travelling to Canada getting our assess kicked in tourneys.
Don’t have the time now to play or be involved, but I have a two year old son so will get him in to it. Obviously he will become the greatest player of all time.

OF ALL TIME!
You wanna tell me that to mah face?!
where do you live?
one of the reasons for this poll is that I’m considering adding a sub-page to JftC to deal with local hockey, 99% youth but maybe 1% beer leagues, too. I’m guessing this could be a fairly robust network for people interested in what’s going on at the different rinks.
my kid is seven. we’re mostly at Valley Ice Center, Ice Station Valencia, El Segundo, and, well, the Pickwick, and also Iceland. Don’t like Culver City much. Never been to Simi Valley. Played a lot of beer league down in Torrence and Paramount. That’s what my map looks like.
Wait till this year.
Huntington beach. Lakewood and Westminster are the two rinks I played at and would probably have my son play at.

Not from Cali, never played hockey
Let’s just say hockey isn’t suited to my country of origin…
The more you drink, the less gruesome I look.
