If Westgarth is out, who is in?
Rich Clune -- and Marc-Andre Cliche and David Meckler -- are among today's reported waivers (which means only that they're being sent to Manchester), so Clune is not the answer. Although I think we'll know better in a few hours when the latest cuts are announced, my guess is that Kevin Westgarth's broken face (as yet undiagnosed) means that Jordan Nolan may suddenly have a shot of sticking around. Unless I'm forgetting someone. But I don't think I am.

I call it a net positive
I don’t want anyone out because they’re hurt but I don’t like seeing Westgarth on th eice at all.
This forces Murray to play a more offensive 4th line. Good on us.
If Murray wanted to play a more offensive 4th line it wouldn’t take having no other option. He would just do it. Westgarth, much like anyone who plays less than 3 minutes a night has relatively nothing to do with the outcome of any given game.
this is true
And Westgarth never has anything to do in a positive way with the outcome of a game. That’s why it’s my preference that he wears a shiny suit and watches the game for free with Rich up in the press box.
But Murray thinks the knuckle dragger still has import in todays NHL so he puts him in and drops the 3rd line minutes to 5 most games.
I’m gonna assume that it’s just preseason stuff but with all the other guys considered Westgarth, imo, should be at the bottom of the list.
If I were coach, I’d play Richardson-Lokti-Lewis on that 4th line. That will probably be the fastest line out of the 4 and the way Lokti has been playing of late he could become a terror literally overnight.
I’ve only seen him once, but I went and watched the first rookie game against Phoenix and came away impressed with Nolan. He made some pretty good passes and seemed to have pretty good awareness about him. Didn’t see him fight, though.
For every moment of triumph, for every instance of beauty, many souls must be trampled.
I didn’t fully appreciate Nolan’s size until I saw him standing next to Kozun at training camp last year. They looked like Green Giant and Li’l Sprout.

i stick by my initial description of Nolan as a hulking monster version of Matt Moulson.
And no I’m not saying Nolan is without skill or smarts. He has both. It was just a look, especially when he had longer hair.
