So it seems as though I need to address Pancakegate for those in the sports media world, as well as those following #pennercakes on twitter, in light of the recent phenomenon I've created. Right off the bat, I'd like to clarify a few things. For example, they were vegetarian pancakes. The injury happened as I was sitting down to eat, not mid-bite. And yes, I did finish them. [...] In an effort to end the entire experience on a high note, I'm partnering with MayorsManor to sponsor a 'Pancakes with Penner' breakfast. In the weeks to come we'll be setting up a special raffle. Fans will be able to purchase tickets for $1.00 for a chance to have a pancake breakfast with me. [...]

Penner is so great. He's not going to net 30-40 goals as I predicted, but I'm hoping for 20. And I look forward to his career in broadcasting in the 2030s or whenever.

I’m disappointed that things haven’t worked out better for Penner here for a variety of reasons, and one of them is that he seems like a clever and funny guy. I’ll have to keep an eye open on that raffle. $1 seems like a bargain for a chance to have breakfast with him and hang out for a bit.

I only see clearly what I remember.
I love how tons of people missed his sense of humor in his original narrative. That he goes out of his way to set a scene. That we are assured the pancakes are delicious. Like, “Why would he tell reporters that? Does he not get how ridiculous this is?” Uh, do you know anything about Penner? Hahaha.
The media’s reaction was classic. If I were an athlete, I would lob hilarity bombs their way all the time.
But let’s not forget to keep fighting the battle against SOBS.

Derek Zona named Jonathan Quick his midseason Hart winner. He also gave Kopitar an honorable mention for the Selke.

Do you have to sign up for Word Press or something? I don’t want to have Twitter. I’d spend all day posting Alec Martinez and Thomas Hickey pictures and making fun of the Edmonton Journal.

I rebel against Twitter, and facebook, and Surly and Scribes site uses Word Press, and I can post there just fine. When I try on Ricks site it says sorry not signed in. There’s not even anywhere to put your name or email.
It says register with Wordpress, Twitter, etc. to make a comment. I’ll give WP a try.

The extra skaters this morning were Davis Drewiske, Alec Martinez and Kevin Westgarth, meaning Slava Voynov is on track to return in Martinez’s place.
I want to keep Voynov and Martinez. Voynov should take JJ’s place (and not because I’m a hater).

OT: Lombardi on Smyth trade
So this story has been posted on at least a couple of blogs today, though there’s nothing from Hammond yet. Anyway, DL apologized for his public comments and handling of the situation. I guess there was still some degree of merit to his basic complaint, as the Oilers did send some cash our way.
Didn’t he say he apologized a while ago? On some radio interview or something.
Hehe. Whenever he does I imagine a giant thought bubble over his head: “Yeah, but you’re still a dick.”
