Ohhhhh that's why I don't remember Tim Jackman on the Kings
5 games played with LA in 2006-07. I guess that counts as a “former King”. Kind of.
Neige. :)
Boring 1st period. Kings seemed off a little.
I want Ricky to score some goals again.

just noticed a big difference between l.a. and calgary. at kings home games you have that annoying cartman chant, in calgary you have garth brooks sing alongs.
Off topic
Am I the only one upset that Kopitar isn’t in the All-Star game?
Penner made a good point in his post-game interview, that Kopi is banged up and could use the rest.
The older I get, the less I care about All-Star games. I’d rather Kopitar got a few days’ rest without missing a regular season game.

For me, I think the snapping point on All-Star Games in general came when Bud Selig used executive fiat to declare a tie in the MLB All-Star Game. That’s when I realized just how little they mean in the big scheme of things.
If the Kings win the Stanley Cup with nobody making the All-Star Team that season, I’ll be perfectly happy.

I’d be equally as happy if they won the cup with a player that made it.
The weekend itself has no bearing. It is a status symbol that gives 1 of our players a chance to take his place amongst the elites, and every league in many different sports do it.
Even when I was a kid, my leagues had all star games, and it was a great feeling to be part of one.
Most important thing though, is that if Quick wants to be in one, fans shouldn’t cheapen it.
Effing A. I’m glad that Kopitar isn’t risking injury for this donkey crap travesty game and hope Quick sees little or no minutes for the same reason. I have no interest in the all star game nor the donkey crap winter classic or any other made for tv crap games. The Kings will never be in the winter classic, which is designed for NBC who thinks it’s still a six team league. The Kings are still the red headed step child of the NHL, never getting any respect from the referees, the schedulers nor Mike Murphy and his band of thieves in Toronto and they can all burn in hell!!
Sorry, I forgot to take my mood stabilizers this morning.
Sour grapes?
I don’t mind. The Kings are left out, and ignored by many who govern, and many fans on the east coast, but I still want them to be part of it when the opportunity arsises. All I’m sayin is that if the players consider it a big honor, the fans shouldn’t let sour grapes interfere with their support of them participating.
It is a big deal to them, or they wouldn’t go.
Mind you, I’m not saying that All-Star Games shouldn’t be a lot of fun for players involved, and that they shouldn’t feel honored to be selected.
But you did kind of miss my point. From the team’s point of view, is it better for Kopi to have that day of fun and a fleeting honor, or to get extra rest for what is shaping up as a grueling playoff run (and one hopes, a long playoff tournament after that?). Especially now, considering that he’s banged up — I would bet $ to donuts that he’s hurting more than he’s letting on. Penner (or one of the other players) remarked after last night’s game that he could use the time off to rest and heal.
Personally, all I care about is that the Kings win a Cup before I die or get too senile to understand that they’ve won a Cup. A healthier, more rested Kopitar helps maximize their chances.
I’m less concerned about the risk of getting injured in the game itself, but m_and_m does make a valid point, even if he’s off his meds. :-) Dizzy Dean’s career was cut short after a line drive off of his foot in the MLB All-Star Game broke his toe and he tried to pitch through it.
Quick being an All-Star and not getting the time off is one thing because he can always sit while Bernier plays. A skater — and one as important as Kopitar — will have to bring his A game night in and night out if the Kings are going to make a run this season.

I understand your position, and have no problem with it really.
I’m fine with him sitting, or going. Last season Kopi went, and it had no bearing on wether he was ready for the playoffs. He did get injured later in the season, but that had nothing to do with him being an All Star. Even if he hadn’t been injured, he would of been 100% ready for the playoffs.
I do see the risk, and don’t claim there won’t be. I just think the benefit of having a player take his place among the elites is truely a sight to behold, and I long for the day when it will be an automatic, instead of the way it is right now.
It’s a piece of fortune given the circumstances if you ask me. But I understand the feeling.
The whole team had weird shooting luck in the first half. I’ll wager he’s back in the ASG next year.

Wow, I didn't think they'd run Kopi out there so soon
Good two points… Let’s get two more tomorrow…
