Two things: Bob’s best call still has to be “The Great One has become the greatest of them all” until he gets out something like “The LA Kings are now the Kings of hockey, your 20xx Stanley Cup champions.”

And, hey Wayne, if there’s nothing like lifting a Cup maybe you should have told Marty to put away his flippin’ illegal stick. Then we’d already know what Bob Miller would sound like calling the Kings champs.

I’m one of the lucky ones. I’ve seen every one of those guys play live at one time or another. Of course, Gordie was the only one who wasn’t a spring chicken when I saw him.

I saw Gordie at the Forum. It was his last NHL tour. He centered for sons Mark and Marty.
That night 52 year old (I think) Gordie was checked over the boards into the bench by J.P. Kelly.
