Kings vs. Western Conference: Season Series Updates

PF and PA are points for and against (i.e. points earned by the Kings, and points earned by opponent, in season series). "Diff" is the difference between PF and PA (who's ahead in the series). GR is games remaining in the series.

head-to-head season series tiebreaker is determined by who has the advantage in points earned
for example, let’s say the kings win the next two games against detroit in OT. the kings’ record against the wings would be 2-2, which make it seem like the season series would be tied. however, the wings’ record against the kings would be 2-0-2 (not 2-2-0) so they would have earned 6 points in those games, while we only earned 4.
6-3-4...
with excluding calgary since we have yet to play them, as of right now, that’s our series record versus the 13 conference teams…and we only have a negative goal differential against four of them…
our defense is rock-solid and our goalies…i mean…goalie…has been outstanding…if we are heading to the pre-playoff season already playing playoff-style hockey, the second set of 41 games could be our time to rise above the pack and solidify a post-season spot, perhaps a division title…
if we could only find a way to show some offensive potency, then you can argue that we belong in the discussion of serious cup contenders…i don’t mind winning the 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 games…the point is to get points…however, how far can we really go if we continue to average around 2.07 goals per game…?
the only “superstar” that we might be able to legitimately acquire to help out is jarome…but he would have to waive his ntc…and dl would have to be ready to help the flames rebuild, because they will ask for a fortune…even though we took dr. freddy venkman off their hands, i don’t think feaster will be giving us a discount double-check…
i don;t think nash will get traded…nor parise…hemsky is very creative, but too fragile and not a finisher…and if the quacks move bobby ryan, it certainly won’t be to us…jeff carter has been a disappointment in columbus, but we already tried that type of scenario with penner last year…and need i say anymore how that has worked out…
with gagne looking like he’s on his way to being lost for the year, maybe dl will feel the need for speed…and expedite the hunt for an additional scoring threat…but if he doesn’t – and his track record isn’t the greatest for pulling off major mid-season trades – this might be the type of team we’re stuck with…and as long as the kings can embrace their identity and continue to win, i will too…
in 1984, i was hospitalized for approaching perfection....
excuse me...
it should be “negative POINT differential”…

Jarome Arthur-Leigh Adekunle Tig Junior Elvis Iginla
I love Iggy, the guy is class and talk about “compete” … he really is everything a hockey player should be, IMO.
Few issues jump out with going after Iggy though:
He has two years left on his current contract, and is 34 years young … not sure how much longer he has … wouldn’t be surprised in he Ryan Smyth’ed LA at the end of the contract.
He is a RW and we need a LW
Reality and perception…LA continues to hold it’s own while continuing to lack the scoring and crisp passing seen on top contenders.
While I enjoy the tight games the mounting number of OT losses hint “6 games and out”.
Last season LA dished out Bettmans this season Bettmans are a staple at the King’s table…empty calories. LA needs those wins.
Fix the power play and the team moves from good to great.
