I wonder...
If Datsyuk ever watches Doughty and wishes he had sick dangles like Doughty. Too much NHL12 during his hold out for Drew.
Nevermind, fuck Rick Nash
For every moment of triumph, for every instance of beauty, many souls must be trampled.
I was just discussing that with another fan.
Just before that shift, Lewis’s line established a tempo change, and that 4rth line grinded them down for at least a full minute. After that, Columbus never recovered. 2-1 Kings.
The guy has a good shot, I wish he’d use it more

Nash got behind the defense…again. If he had decent support he’d have a hat trick tonight.

Third Tardif the Game: his blown coverage lead to two Colombus goals…Drew Doughty
Second Tard of the Game: his inability to put pucks on net is now famous…Jerrod Stoll
First Tart of the Game: he single handily stiffled all first line offense…Dustin Brown!!!

Surprised. DD gets the game winner in an exciting fashion, and fans bash him for it.
Am I the only one who loves this guy?
I felt the same way after reading the Ottawa thread. He’s been excellent but like Vanek no one will appreciate him for a couple of years. Some rust tonight but no biggie.
On the bright side, someone dropped him in fantasy hockey a while ago and my belief in the underlying numbers has paid off handsomely.

Hold it. Game winner, sure, but there was almost 60 minutes prior. First jackets goal was on Doughty…out of position allowing a jacket behind him
Second jacket goal Doughty turned up ice when LA did not have the puck and Colombus went on for an open net goal. Nash got behind Doughty several times as well.
Had Doughty played his position LA could have won 1-0 or 2-0 for all it mattered. So yeah, #3.
His numbers may support a reasonable fantasy showing but last night both Jacket goals were on Doughty.

Don’t make what I said all about points. I just took advantage of someone else’s low valuation of him, which matches what I see around fandom. There’s not a lot of praise for one of our best players.
I think he’s been killing it vs some very tough competition and he has been for a while now. Error free hockey doesn’t happen. So when defenders make mistakes I put it in a bigger context. That is my opinion. You don’t have to agree.

I agree with you. DD makes some mistakes for sure, but the guy plays 25-30 shifts every night, has more touches and carries than anyone else. Nobody says anything when he makes it look ridiculously easy time after time clearing the puck when there’s a heavy forecheck or whatnot, but as soon as he makes the slightest mistake or fails to score, it’s immediately “look at the $7 million defenseman” yada yada.
IMO he’s got so much skill it’s ridiculous, even though he’s about 4 goals and 10 points below my expectations. Obviously things started poorly this year with the holdout, but I didn’t hear any bitching about Kopi during his 17 game scoreless streak or whatever. I mean, I love Kopi too, but for a big guy, maybe just maybe he could use his body a little bit more.
Second jacket goal Doughty turned up ice when LA did not have the puck and Colombus went on for an open net goal.
He’s standing sideways at the circles when Loktionov is unable to get the puck out.
I am limited in this case…TV view only, but I feel reasonably sure.
…thought there was puck control…turned up ice to transition to offense… turned to receive the puck…instead got a view of Gillies in front of an open net.
Yes, certainly he has a high opponent level (Gillies 1st goal of season). And certainly he plays a lot of minutes.
It appeared to me however that Doughty cheated quite a bit last night. Perhaps he believed he could boost his offensive numbers against the worst team in the league. Who knows?

Had to have been about 3-4 seconds later. (Real seconds, not King seconds)
Doughty moved to the far side, first to the dot where is ref is then to the half board above the Farmer John sign. Gilles (#9) went to the dot, received the puck, took one step toward the net and put the puck into the open side as Doughty looked back and watched.
If you have a video and I am wrong then blame it on too much Xanax (or something) ;>)

He never leaves that near circle.
The fact that Loktionov is getting benched tonight would seem to support the idea that it was the fact that he didn’t get it out of the zone that caused the goal, not that Doughty was lazy on the play. The puck got turned over and the Jackets made a nice play to score, despite the best efforts of Doughty & Scuderi.
No
But you may have missed seeing that Doughty blew the coverage on both jacket goals last night. On the 2nd he turned to go on offense with the puck still behind him…

Those things happen when your on the ice during games.
No one covers everything perfectly, and when your on the ice most of the night covering top 3 players, shit happens. I find it amazing that since JJ, and DD have switched coverage on shut down rolls, everybody who used to complain about JJ’s bone head coverage, is now doing it through a magnifying glass with DD
. DD can get 2 points, and even score the game winner, but still sucks because some great plays by the other teams top line beat him (and only him). Too bad the other 4 guys, and the goalie who were on the ice didn’t stop DD from fucking it up for all of us.
Time warp win. Would love to know if it was a .4 or longer glitch. Kings are starting to get their bounces.

NHL INVESTIGATING SCOREBOARD ERROR IN KINGS’ VICTORY
Well, for all the times we’ve been screwed over by calls from Toronto, I would simply say to you, Mr. Campbell,

EXACTLY
Nothing they can do about the win.
I mean I guess they could launch an investigation and see where that goes as far as disciplinary action … but the win is in the books now.
