Kings-Hurricanes Game Day Thread: Carb Load for Charity!
Los Angeles Kings at Carolina Hurricanes, Feb 4, 2012 4:00 PM PST
Don't forget to buy a chance for Pancakes with Penner!
We'll be far, far away, but I'm still donating. I'll have to make a face on my flapjacks with egg eyes and a bacon mouth and have a conversation with that. Not nearly as cool.

Ok, so I guess there are big changes in the lineup instead. Martinez for Voynov; Lokti’s in. Not a bad idea, they’ll be fresh.
Go get ’em boys.

Also I would like an almost-birthday present. A win! Thank you for considering my humble request. PS you’re all handsome.

Cowardly? Check the tape, Schenn asked him to go and it’s not the first time the kid Hs bitten off more than he could chew.
wow great timing for turning on the game…

I used to think low scoring games were exciting. Well, they are with two good teams. When the teams are as bad as the Jackets, Canes and Kings its painful to watch.
5 periods against two of the three worst defensive teams in the league and what, 3 goals? Two power play, one after the clock ran out.
Doesn’t matter how good the goalie is. Watching the Kings offensive players making stupid decision after stupid decision is nearly unbearable.
What is wrong with me that I can’t look away?

Correction, were good. Kings stopped skating, getting beaten to every puck.

Oddly enough, just watched Groundhog Day this week, and had the thought of replacing Bill Murray with Penner. Good for a laugh, stuck doing the same thing over and over again until he learns how to score…

3rd Tard of the Game: Trent Hunter
2nd Tard of the Game: Kings Offense
1st Tard of the Game: Kings Management and Coaching.
Microcosmic of the season? 2-1 is the season.

So Tight, So Close---Jim Fox
Come on. The Kings can’t score against the 27th and 30th worse defensive teams and Fox calls it close? I call it a blown season, not a “microcosm”.
Trade? Well the stock in Martinez went down. Hunters stock dropped to worthless. Stoll and Penner vanished. What the f…?
Great defense, great Goalies, bad team…consistantly

Wake me up when the regular season's over.
Then I’ll watch them score the fewest goals in a single playoff series in league history and eagerly anticipate the firing of Sutter and Lombardi than immediately ensues.
he has more goals in less than two games than the entire Kings team has in three.

thought you were joking
I just looked. My God, He has as many points tonight in half a game as all the Kings players combined tonight. Nevermind the eight from the other night. That would be just tragic.
Glass half full….. at least they scored a goal tonight. :-)
Who needs Gagner
never mind…. I’m not gonna go there.
This is truly one of the low points in Kings history. This is a Very very average hockey team. They occasionally play well and that’s about all I can say. Good luck to em when the month of March arrives and they have to deal with St. L, Boston, Detroit X2, Vancouver, Chicago, and on and on.
Good luck. They’ll need it.
Welp.
Looks like I picked the right night to go to the SDSU basketball game and skip watching the Kings from home.

If this season was a video gameā¦
I’d delete the file right now and restart.
I’d go back to June and fire Terry Murray right there and then after another embarrassing first round exit from a series we should have and could have won. I’d replace him with Ken Hitchcock.
I would not trade Simmonds and Schenn for Mike Richards. Simmonds would be my #1 right wing this season with Kopitar and Kane. Schenn would be centering my 3rd line. I’d deal Stoll for whatever pick I could get. Loktionov centers my second line with Williams and Penner. Schenn plays with Lewis and Brown on the 3rd line. 4th line would be Handzus (would have resigned him), Clifford, and Richardson.
Wait, did I say Kane? You bet your ass I did. I would have traded Doughty to Winnipeg for Kane, straight up or maybe get them to throw in a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Doughty has provided nothing except a ridiculous contract this season. Let his arrogant ass freeze in the ’Peg, I say.
My defense then would be Voynov-Mitchell, Johnson-Scuderi, Greene-Martinez/Hickey.
Oh man, that team would have been good.
well
it’s not a video game. I think you’ve gotta make the trade for Richards, but it’s interesting that Simmer has 30 points, Richards 26. Then they’ve got Schenn as well.
Many of us are less than happy about Doughty. He has no one to blame but himself. He hadn’t a clue that rather than settle for a paltry 6.8M$ per, and everyone would have been cool, the hold out just made the light shine on him that much more, he tries to do way too much and consequently does less….. and it doesn’t make him look good doing it.
DL has to take a boatload of responsibility for this mess though. If you’re giving grades I’d give him a D- for the forwards. When two of your top three forwards were already there, and you haven’t added much of significance other than Richards in 5+ years, thats a big problem right there.
speaking obviously of forwards on that thread
… not defensemen or goalies.
Wow I just saw this
Doughty has provided nothing except a ridiculous contract this season.
Ah yeah no. He has taken on the toughest assignments on the top line yet again, making all the other pairings’ job easier, and is still one of the best Kings at getting the puck in the o-zone and keeping it there. JJ and Voynov’s responsibilities (and abilities) pale by comparison.
If you got your wish and was able to ship out Doughty in real life instead of NHL 12, you wouldn’t like the results.
