I have no clue. So here you go: the Kings' conference seed will be determined by this equation:
x = 12 - y - (z-5)/2
x = conference seed, y = number of 20 goal scorers, z = number of shoot-out wins. Results are rounded to the nearest counting number.
As of today, the Kings have three players on pace to score 20: Anze Kopitar, Mike Richards and Simon Gagne. The Kings have one shoot-out win, which projects to 3.2 shoot-out wins. So:
x = 12 - 3 - (3 - 5)/2
x = 9 - (-2)/2
x = 9 + 1
x = 10
10th place. Sounds about right.
