So that's not what we wanted to see on the opening faceoff of a five-game road trip... just seconds into tonight's game against the Coyotes, Jeff Carter went off with an injury.

Naturally, every media member was asking about Carter's absence for most of the first period; the Kings finally announced that the injury was an upper-body one.
Via #LAKings, Carter has an upper-body injury and is not expected to return.— Jon Rosen (@lakingsinsider) December 27, 2015
It's almost definitely to his hand, though, trust us. We'll update this post once there's a sense of how long he'll be out.
