Calder Cup Finals, Game 2: Utica Comets @ Manchester Monarchs

New, comments

The Monarchs look to take a 2-0 lead. They'll look for some secondary scoring, too.

Game Notes:

  • Sven Baertschi left Saturday's contest with an injury, but he's taking warmups today...
  • ... Jeff Schultz, however, is not so lucky. Kevin Raine (two games in the Calder Cup playoffs) gets the nod over Nick Ebert (zero), while Kevin Gravel swaps sides to play on the second pair.
  • No other lineup changes are expected.
  • This amused me, though it's about the Stanley Cup Final: Winning Game One was a really big deal for the Monarchs. Winning Game Two? Also a big deal. (It's the same phenomenon when it comes to scoring first and scoring second, they're both really, really important.) So why not double down and win this?
  • The Monarchs thoroughly outplayed the Comets yesterday; do it again, and they should be halfway to their first Calder Cup.
