Feels good to post about breaking news again...
TSN's Bob McKenzie, as only he can, broke the news out of nowhere this morning.
If this is already out there, I apologize. Haven't been on Twitter. In any case, LAK and Christian Ehrhoff have agreed to terms on 1-yr deal— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) August 23, 2015
We'll be analyzing this more in the days to come, but needless to say, Ehrhoff immediately becomes the jewel of LA's 2015 free agent class. (Not hard when the class was Jhonas Enroth and Jamie McBain, but here we are.) Of the top defensemen available as of July 1, Ehrhoff was one of the few who could have potentially fit under the cap and filled in the right-side role required. After two months, though, it's fascinating that LA is just now picking him up, especially with the uncertain status of Slava Voynov and the looming presence of Derek Forbort. It's a really smart move, though, and it sets up a definite top 6 even without those two factored in.
Terms have not yet been announced, but we'll keep you posted.
[UPDATE, 10:15 AM]
Pending a physical, the deal with #LAKings and defenseman Christian Ehrhoff is for $1.5M.— The Mayor John Hoven (@mayorNHL) August 23, 2015
