Rank the Players: McElhinney Outduels Budaj, Columbus Takes Extra Point

Jeff Carter silences the boobirds repeatedly, but Columbus wins their tenth straight on the back of their backup.

Sometimes, you face a team coming off nine straight wins that gets an unbelievable performance from a career backup. You’re still allowed to be angry that the Kings didn’t get the second point they deserved, though.

Credit to Columbus; Curtis McElhinney was sensational, Cam Atkinson (our Player to Watch before the game) scored twice, and when they could have gotten buried in the second period, they instead got the game’s first goal and turned things around. But the Kings should have won this one, especially since Peter Budaj stayed in fine form. You get 44 shots and a good goaltending performance, and you still lose? That stings.

Recap to come.
