It has been confirmed that the Los Angeles Kings have called up Michael Amadio from their AHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign. Justin Auger has been assigned to Ontario.

The 6’1” Amadio, ranked #5 in our blog’s Top 25 Under 25, is an exciting prospect for the Kings. Listed as a center, he scored 50 goals with the North Bay Battalion of the OHL in 2015-16. Since then, in 73 games with the Reign, he scored 16 goals and 27 assists, with only 4 PIM.

Auger was called up on October 17. In two NHL games, he was scoreless, with 8:00 of ice time per game, one shot, and a -1 rating. In 132 games with the Reign, the 6’6”, 232 pound right winger scored 43 goals and 42 assists, and racked up 174 PIM. Considered designed for Darryl Sutter’s system, he lacked a fit with the current Kings team.

The move is likely due to the Kings’ desperate need for center after the injury to Jeff Carter. Carter is out indefinitely. Nick Shore was seen as an immediate option, but has been scoreless since Carter’s injury.
