All looked lost with just seconds left in Ottawa. Then, in a blink of an eye, all seemed right for the visiting Kings as Tyler Toffofi backhanded a juicy rebound past Anders Nilsson and the score was tied and headed into overtime.
In the extra frame, the Ottawa Senators proved to be the best of the worst as Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored 3:12 into overtime to give the home team a 3-2 victory win.
The Kings dropped to 5-10-1 and the Senators improved to 5-9-1.
Stars of the Game—Pageau (1st), Anthony Duclair (2nd), Nilsson (3rd)… Jack Campbell made 25 saves; Nilsson had 30… Jonathan Davidsson who came over in the Matt Duchene trade made his NHL debut for Ottawa... Trevor Lewis left the game halfway through the second period with a lower-body injury and did not return… Toffoli’s tying goal was the first time the Kings scored with the goaltender pulled this season… Attendance was announced at 9,929… Jonathan Quick was blamed by many for the loss…
