2020 NHL Draft: Every LA Kings Pick

This is going to be a huge draft year for the LA Kings. Not only are they armed with the second overall pick in the first round — guaranteeing them the choice between top prospects Quinton Byfield and Tim Stützle — but Rob Blake will go into the rest of the draft with 10 additional picks.

It’s also worth mentioning that the Kings still have all of their original picks for this and the following two drafts. Because the additional picks are focused on the earlier rounds, I can imagine the later round picks being shipped off for future picks — though the depth of this draft might make them better off using them now.

Here’s every pick the Kings own going into the 2020 NHL Entry Draft:

Notes:

  • Pick 51: Acquired from the Vancouver Canucks along with Tim Schaller, Tyler Madden’s signing rights and a 2022 conditional fourth-round pick in exchange for Tyler Toffoli on Feb. 17, 2020.
  • Pick 60: Acquired from the Vegas Golden Knights with St. Louis’ 2021 second-round pick in exchange for Alec Martinez on Feb. 19, 2020.
  • Pick 83: Originally belonging to the Columbus Blues Jackets, it was traded to the Ottawa Senators with Nick Moutrey in exchange for Ian Cole on Feb. 26, 2018. The Toronto Maple Leafs then received it in a package with Ben Harpur, Aaron Luchuck and Cody Ceci’s signing rights in exchange for Connor Brown, Nikita Zaitsev and Michael Carcone’s signing rights on July 1, 2019. Toronto then sent the pick, a 2021 conditional third-round pick and Trevor Moore to the Kings for Jack Campbell and Kyle Clifford on Feb. 5, 2020.
  • Pick 112: A conditional pick traded for Oscar Fantenberg on Feb. 25, 2019. Because the Flames did not reach the Conference Final, the pick did not upgrade to a third-round pick./

Round 1 of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft starts tomorrow night at 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET.
