In honor of this weekend’s new All-Star game format, the preceding mock draft on NHL Network, I thought it would be fun to have a mock draft of our own. As this is a Kings site, we will limit it to Kings players. Namely, every player who ever played for the Kings in the history of the franchise.
Three mock GMs, me (Quisp), RudyKelly and Niesy (although I haven’t heard from her yet so maybe she won’t do it, I don’t know) will each select 13 forwards, 7 defensemen and 2 goalies from the all-time roster (one game NHL experience minimum). We’ll use hockeydb as our master list. Selections will be made in the comments section. The result will be three Kings All-Star rosters, Team Quisp, Team Rudy, Team Niesy. Then maybe I’ll have my seven year-old create NHL 11 custom players for all the “old-timers” and we’ll play a round-robin tournament with the current (simulated) actual Kings. Or maybe that last step is too much.
(Maybe if Niesy doesn’t surface from the real world in a timely manner we’ll just do two teams, or we’ll let the comments section pick the third team. I don’t know.)
How should we decide who picks first? I don’t know. I’m making this up as I go along. Okay, it doesn’t seem fair for me to pick first, since it’s my idea. Niesy is MIA. So Rudy picks first. No time limit, just the pressure of knowing the whole enterprise could crumble at any minute if we don’t pick quickly.
