Contracts for Vey, Berube, not yet Deslauriers or Pelech

Kings sign prospects Vey, Berube | The Fabulous Forum | Los Angeles Times
The Kings announced Monday they have signed forward Linden Vey and goaltender Jean-Francois Berube to three-year, entry-level contracts. No terms were disclosed. Vey, 19, was chosen in the fourth round and 96th overall in the 2009 NHL entry draft. He […] was the top scorer in the three major Canadian junior leagues with 116 points, on 46 goals and 70 assists in 69 regular-season games [with] a plus-37 rating. The 5-foot-10, 166-pound forward scored 12 goals and 25 points in 15 playoff games, helping Medicine Hat advance to the WHL’s Eastern Conference finals.

He’s listed at 6′, 181 lbs.

Vey was awarded the Bob Clarke Trophy for being the WHL’s regular-season leading scorer and was also named a WHL Eastern Conference First-Team All-Star.

Berube, 19, was selected in the fourth round (95th overall) in the 2009 draft. He has played the last three seasons with the Montreal Juniors of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and last season was 2-7-8 with three shutouts, a 2.60 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage in 50 games. Among QMJHL netminders, Berube ranked fourth in goals-against average, second in wins, sixth in winning percentage and tied for fifth in shutouts as he helped lead his club to the playoffs.

Obviously, that’s a typo. Berube was 32-7-8, not 2-7-8.

Presumably we’ll be hearing about a Nicolas Deslauriers contract in the next seven days. I’m still betting Michael Pelech, who also needs a contract by 6/1, will not be signed. Two unsigned collegiate picks must be signed by August 15, or their rights are relinquished. They are: Garrett Roe and Joshua “Podge” Turnbull. My (previously posted) guess is, contract for Roe, not for Turnbull. Which will be a shame because I like typing Podge.
