WHAT TO WATCH FOR

if you’re a Kings fan: Tyler Toffoli was already struggling enough before he got boarded by Mark Borowiecki of the Ottawa Senators. Darryl Sutter has made some switches to the lines, looking for a spark, and for Toffoli that means Dwight King along with Carter. Can a modified 70’s Line find success?

if you’re a Sabres fan: Who has the league’s worst shooting percentage at even strength? For once, it isn’t the Kings… it’s the Sabres. When will this all turn around?

if you’re a hockey fan: NHL.com is streaming this game for free. Tune in for the Kings against a team who has tried to emulate LA’s lose-to-win model.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

for the Kings: Devin Setoguchi. Setoguchi has played just one game in the month of December, and his last point (an assist) was on Novmber 19. Setoguchi is unlikely to be a 15-16 minute player for the Kings again as long as the forwards are healthy, but he can still be a useful third-liner. Setoguchi is scratched. Pretend this was about Kyle Clifford.

for the Sabres: Sam Reinhart. Kyle Okposo missed yesterday’s practice due to illness, and Reinhart might be the immediate recipient of any ice time Okposo doesn’t receive tonight. Reinhart has 14 points through 27 games, which is about the same pace he carried last year, but his shot rate has increased considerably. The 21-year-old might be due for a hot streak soon, so hopefully he waits another couple days to get it going.
