Dustin Brown, Alec Martinez Join The You Can Play Project

The You Can Play project campaigns for equal treatment for LGBT athletes, coaches, and fans. Several players from all around the NHL have supported their fight against discrimination. We are pleased to see that Dustin Brown and Alec Martinez have joined in to promote their cause.

The champs filmed a spot right after the Cup parade:

Martinez and Brown are not the only members of the Kings family to support the campaign. Manchester Monarchs players Jeff Zatkoff, Brandon Kozun, Jordan Hill, Richard Clune, and Stefan Legein recently filmed a PSA for them as well.

Want to know more about the project? Here is You Can Play’s mission statement, via their website:

You Can Play is dedicated to ensuring equality, respect and safety for all athletes, without regard to sexual orientation. You Can Play works to guarantee that athletes are given a fair opportunity to compete, judged by other athletes and fans alike, only by what they contribute to the sport or their team’s success. You Can Play seeks to challenge the culture of locker rooms and spectator areas by focusing only on an athlete’s skills, work ethic and competitive spirit.

Kudos to Martinez, Brown, the Monarchs, and You Can Play for advocating respect for everyone and bringing us these videos!
