Luc Robitaille Takes Selfie With Brett Hull, Brendan Shanahan at NHL100 Ceremony

+

After being unveiled as part of the official list of he NHL's 100 greatest players, Luc Robitaille showed just how media-savvy he's become in his time in Los Angeles. Robitaille lined up for a selfie with two of the other honorees from the 1990s. It might not get Ellen-level retweets, but I'm just glad he's having fun. (via NHL)

Jonathan Quick Uses Paddle for Save of the Year Candidate

2

Earlier in the second period of Monday night's game, Logan Couture was stopped on a breakaway by Jonathan Quick. With less than ten seconds to go in the period, though, Couture must have been certain that he was going to score. Quick had other ideas, using his paddle to make one of the best saves of his career. (GIF) Anze Kopitar Makes a Perfect Skate Pass

1

In the first period of yesterday's game, Anze Kopitar was (as usual) along the boards, daring the New York Rangers to take possession away from him. With Ryan McDonagh's arms wrapped around Kopitar and another Ranger attempting to reach in as well, Kopitar couldn't get his stick down to the puck. So he improvised.

Kopitar would later score the game-tying and game-winning goals on perfect deflections, but this might still be the coolest thing he did yesterday.

Gaborik Beats the Sharks in Overtime

1

The Kings did juuuuust enough to get to OT, and after about two minutes of lethargy, the 3-on-3 finally led to some good chances at both ends. Tyler Toffoli broke up a pass in front of his own net, circled the net, then hit Marian Gaborik with a long stretch pass. Game.

Vincent Lecavalier Scores Late Game-Tying Goal in San Jose

+

Vinny scored in his first appearance in a Freeway Faceoff, so why not score in his first game against the San Jose Sharks in an LA uni? He picked a hell of a time to do it, coming on with Jonathan Quick pulled and going straight to the front. Dustin Brown whistled it towards the net, Pearson tipped it into the crease, and Lecavalier was quickest to react. Vinny's fourth goal for the Kings sent a terrific game into overtime.

Lucic Ejected After Sucker Punch in Arizona; Suspension Coming?

8

In the third period, Milan Lucic got slashed in the wrist during a netmouth scramble. His reaction got him ejected, and it very well might get him suspended. We'll have to see whether Lucic sustained an injury on the play as well. (GIF via @myregularface)

Michael Mersch Scores (Very Merschy) First NHL Goal

+

Just as you probably would have guessed that Derek Forbort's first NHL goal would come on a deflected shot from the point, you could see Mersch opening his account from about two feet away. So when he got the puck at the side of the net with room to crash the net, it wasn't a surprise to see him cash in.

Dwight King is Back! And... Scoring!

+

Without warning, Dwight King returned to the Los Angeles Kings' lineup tonight in Edmonton. And if you were overjoyed by that news, he had another treat for all of us.

Toffoli Cracks Top 10 in NHL Goal-Scoring

+

Tyler Toffoli's mini-slump is a thing of the past. With Jeff Carter out of the lineup for the first time all year, Toffoli just went ahead and scored twice. This goal, the second of the game, put him on 16 goals for the season, in a tie for 10th in the NHL.

Derek Forbort (Probably) Scores First Career Goal

+

This shot by Derek Forbort in the second period took one or two deflections on the way to beating Jacob Markstrom. Initially, Dustin Brown got credit for the goal, and it wouldn't have been easy to determine for sure whether he touched it or not. He made it easier on everyone else though, insisting that he didn't touch the puck to the referee. The scorers obliged, awarding Forbort his first career NHL goal.
