From Rich Hammond: Results from pre-camp strength/endurance testing

Getting in shape ” LA Kings Insider
Who tested best, among the Kings, in their pre-camp physical testing? Based on about 10 different on- and off-ice tests, here is the top fiveā€¦ 1. Rich Clune 2. Dustin Brown 3. Andrei Loktionov 4. Kyle Clifford 5. Justin Williams

Clune, we knew about. Brown, not surprising (since he is the leader of the summer training blow-out in El Segundo). Hammond also previously reported that Quick did a ton of work over the “holiday,” so I assume he’s pretty high on the list, too.

Justin Williams is great news in terms of handicapping his rebound from last year’s injuries. The presence of Loktionov and Clifford on this list is just great news, period. Loktionov just seems so happy and talented I worry, idly and for no reason at all, about some fatal flaw like lack of dedication. The fact that he’s in better shape than Clifford (!), Parse, Moller and Richardson is yet another uptick in Lokotionov’s already sky-high rating. My own personal rating system that lives in my mind. I have no idea what anyone else thinks.

The only thing that bothers me just a little about this top five: I would like to see Anze Kopitar and Drew Doughty on this list. And Brayden Schenn. You know, the three guys that Lombardi challenged to (okay, maybe “challenged to” is too strong — gently suggested they) work hard over the summer.

[UPDATE: darn it.

Doughty was allowed to take the tests again after finishing near the bottom. “He actually did pretty well,” said General Manager Dean Lombardi, who wasn’t entirely pleased with Doughty’s conditioning last season.

That is not what I want to hear.]
