Gabe Vilardi has been skating — sometimes on his own, sometimes with smaller groups of players, sometimes with the full Reign squad — for several weeks now, gradually taking on more work and more demanding scenarios. Without any setbacks, Vilardi is set to take the next steps in his ongoing rehabilitation for a back injury.
The Los Angeles Kings officially activated Vilardi today from injured reserve and assigned him to the Ontario Reign.
While Vilardi may not play just yet, this is a promising next move for him and suggests that he will see game action sooner rather than later.
Vilardi last played a competitive game of hockey on December 7, 2018, when he wrapped up a four-game conditioning stint with the Reign prior to being loaned to Hockey Canada for consideration for taking part in the World Juniors tournament.
The Reign are next in action on Friday, November 22 as part of a two-game trip to Tucson. Their next home game is Wednesday , November 27, against the Stockton Heat.
