THE STORY (Los Angeles Kings version): VENGEANCE SHALL BE OURS. It’s about time we got to ruin one of their banner nights. Also, Anze Kopitar is captain, Derek Forbort is being trusted, and Teddy Purcell and Devin Setoguchi get to make up for Milan Lucic and Tanner Pearson.
THE STORY (San Jose Sharks version): Check out this shiny banner. Oh, and that team that beat you last year is back. Only... you have Devin Setoguchi now? We’ll be nice to him. The rest of you get to try and stop that power play. Good luck. *shark chomp motions*
THE STORY (neutral version): Did you see what Auston Matthews did? I gotta see if Connor McDavid can top that... can you blame me? I guess I’ll watch your game during commercial breaks, when I want to watch good teams instead of good players. Give us overtime if you can, that should be fun.
THE STATS: Non-existent! New season means new numbers, though. Get excited.
THE KEYS: Dustin Brown and Joe Thornton. Brown’s going to be under the spotlight a lot this year, but if he wants a best-case scenario for losing his “C,” he doesn’t have to look far.
THE PREDICTION: Kings 4, Sharks 2.
