Game Day Watch, 11/14: Los Angeles Kings @ Colorado Avalanche

HOW TO WATCH

Game Time: 6:00 PM Pacific
TV: Fox Sports West, Altitude Sports
Radio: KABC AM 790
Stream: Fox Sports Go (requires cable subscription)

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

if you’re a Kings fan: With the injury bug having become a full-blown epidemic, LA’s looking to their remaining stars to carry the load. Looking at two trios: That 70’s Line and Those Three D-Men Who Play All The Minutes. (We’ll come up with something better.) The Kings got two goals on Sunday, but four of the five points came from players I wouldn’t bet on to score again.

if you’re an Avalanche fan: Two goals? Must be nice. Colorado hasn’t scored more than two in regulation yet in November. When’s the breakout coming?

if you’re a hockey fan: Matt Duchene AND Anze Kopitar are out? You sure we want to watch this?

PLAYERS TO WATCH

for the Kings: Tom Gilbert. He’s ceded his top four spot to Derek Forbort, who (as Jon Rosen and Drew Doughty explained) looked quite good in 22 minutes on Sunday. Gilbert took advantage of a great setup from Jordan Nolan and cashed in for the GTG against Winnipeg; he’ll continue to get power play time and needs to continue to produce.

for the Avalanche: Blake Comeau. Comeau’s been injured for the last four games, but he returns tonight. He’s developed into a useful top-six player and might help Colorado break out of their skid.

LEAGUEWIDE WATCH

  • The Coyotes are building an arena in Tempe. Reaction from Yotes fans seems positive, but there’s one issue: they are now nine miles further from Staples Center. NOOOOOOO [Five For Howling]
  • A Zamboni broke down on the ice on Sunday night at Northeastern University, causing a college hockey game to be cancelled. Oops. [SBN College Hockey]
  • Are NHLers going to the Olympics in 2018? Who knows? Let’s frame the debate as “You can either make Anze Kopitar or Gary Bettman happy.” [TSN]/
